Richard. Thanks for the info. I assumed there was a check valve somewhere. I will look in my lycoming overhaul manual for a description. Based on the replies, I am not the only one with this issue. Scott In a message dated 7/4/2008 2:39:19 A.M. The oil pump main pressure relief valve has a spring loaded check valve which stops the oil draining into the sump. This valve could be worn, damaged or have some gunk in it thus allowing the oil to pass by. It is mounted on the back of the pump. Be aware that the reason you always pull the props through before you start is to check that the cylinders have not filled with oil. This happens when the crank case fills with oil and it gets past the rings. Hydraulicing the cylinders is not a good thing, can bend con rods, blow the cylinder head off etc. Generally very expensive. Have your mechanic pull the relief valve and check it out. Remember to reset the pressure after. Curiously, only the left engine does this. I was told there is a valve between the tank and the engine on the 560A but I don't see it on the plane or in any of the manuals. Do you think this would add to oil consumption or extra oil lost in the seperator? Again, thanks for the interest. scott Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=191181#191181 **************Gas prices getting you down?
