Subject: | Re: Cleveland brakes |
Hi Octavio,
I have an old listing of STC's and this shows two numbers seem to be
applicable to the Model 500U for a "Cleveland brake conversion kit".
SA303GL is for kit number 199-74, covering Models 500, 500A, 500B, 500S,
500U, 560A and 560E.
SA706GL is for kit number 199-122, covering Models 500, 500A, 500B, 500S
& 500U.
A little more detail on these STC numbers can be found at:
http://www.airweb.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgSTC.nsf/MainF
rame?OpenFrameSet
and then search on the STC numbers.
Of course, it may be better to wait for an answer from somebody who has
accomplished the change on their 500U!
Best Regards,
Barry

Subject: Commander-List: Cleveland brakes
Hello Guys,
I need some advice on the brakes matter, I know it has been discussed
in this forum before but I am not able to find where, so I better rise
the question again. I am wishing to install Cleveland brakes and wheels
on my aircraft but I am not sure what kit to install. Some people say I
need the 199-22 kit other say it is the 199-88. I don't know if I need
the double caliper or the single one. And who is the best supplier. I
know you will be able to help as always.
Thank you in advance.
PS. My key porblem was solved now I am able to lock my ariplane,
thanks a lot.

Hi Tom,
I'm Barry Collman, an aviation historian, specialising in the Twin
Commanders.
Currently, my database comprises some 92,900 records.
My records have mostly been gleaned from the FAA and Factory files.
680FL-1355-34 was first Certificated as N6335U on 25th October 1963.
It was bought by Distributor, Executive Aircraft Corp., of Indianapolis,
Indiana, on 5th November 1963 and they sold it to Northside Chevrolet
Inc., also of Indianapolis, Indiana. That Bill of Sale was not dated
though, but both Bills of Sale were Registered on 9th July 1964.
However, before that, Northside Chevrolet had requested a new 'N' number
and N8885D was Assigned on 19th June 1964 and the change was also
registered at the same time as the two Bills of Sale, on 9th July.
After a sale to Broad Ripple Investments Inc., of Indianapolis, Indiana
on 10th October 1966, they then sold it to Norronafly A/S., of
Oslo-Fornebu, Norway on 31st January 1972 and Registration N8885D was
cancelled on 6th March 1972.
I have the date of Registration to Fjellanger-Wideroe A/S as 21st
January 1983.
I'm going to send you an Excel .xls spreadsheet, giving the complete
history as I know it.
Best Regards,
Barry Collman

Subject: | FLY IN and looking for a ride to OK! |
Hello all,
I am also new to the group and asking a lot on my 1st post!
my love for Commanders started when my father replaced his Turbo Apache
for a 560 in the 70s in Venezuela. He had a ranch in the Amazon and
would fly there for long vacations. He also used it for charters all
over the country & Caribbeans, but specially south of the Orinoco on
dirt strips. He claimed that wherever you could put a C206, his YV-ABE
(later YV-515P) would make it too.
now I'm in Toledo, OH. I'm a avian biologist that mostly work in the
tropics; I guess those great youth times have not quite dissipated!
I came across your GREAT TCFG web page and also found this space.
I am glad to see that those planes are still flying and wish my father
had access to such a great maintenance/flight exchange. (Although this
year has been tragic as well...)
It would be a great experience and kind of a dream come true to attend
the Fly In, specially at this historical reasons and place!
On that note, how can I join the TCFG and get the newsletter? (specially
the latest issue!)
(I sent a couple of emails to the group)
I have noticed that some of you are based in Ohio or Michigan area.
If by any chance there would be one of those rare birds flying by (or
taking off) on their way to WPA and willing to pick up a light (150lbs)
passenger to help with costs... I'll be willing to drive at least 200mls
or more! (Indiana or illinois too!)
at least it will be a joy to hear and read your life with the planes of
my dreams!
truly yours,

Dear Jim Metzger and the Twin Commander Flight Group,
First let me thank you all for such a GREAT site!
My father had a 560 and I use to fly on it as a kid... my dream always
has been to own one, but it won't happen in this lifetime... however
your site has brought up my enthusiasm about those great tough old birds
and in a way made me dream again!
so here are my questions:
1. how much is your membership and how can I find the application form?
2. can I join even if I am not a pilot?
3. I am studying the possibility to go to your annual Fly in, is that
possible for a person in my case?
thank you again for opening a web site on such a great airplane and hope
to hear from you soon,
sincerely,
Peter Bichier
