A dollar bill is 6 1/8th inches long and 2 5/8 inches wide. If we lay $1 bills longways end to end, one trillion dollars would stretch about 96.6 million miles or 3,866 times around the earth. That's 3 million miles beyond the sun. And not a dime of it has been or will be spent by you. Congress alone is responsible for burning that money. You alone can change it.

That's pretty shocking. Not meaning to detract from Nico's message, but the terms dollars and billion struck a chord, so I thought I'd share this: When I went to school in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) and later South Africa, we used the long scale, so a billion was a million million (12 zeroes) and a trillion was a million million million (18 zeroes). Today's short-scale billion (1,000,000,000) was called a milliard. But what is interesting is that Zimbabwe has recently released a $100-trillion dollar note. See here: http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=1&click_id=84&art_id=nw200901 16083851567C343497 Note though: this is *after* they lopped off ten zeroes from the currency in August last year. The note is worth about US$300. Sad. God bless, Andrew A dollar bill is 6 1/8th inches long and 2 5/8 inches wide.
