Bill,
I just got a response from a comment after I noticed that this guy has a picture
of a 500S flying over the ocean with his main door opened.
If you think the comment is worth pursuing, this guy also seems to know the paperwork
track... They are all from "down under" so our folks there can continue
assisting translating (although I noticed that some are part of this group too)
otherwise, I can contact them through Facebook if you want further info (I'm
afraid you'll have to sign in if you want to see the picture -not super quality,
but door definitively open in flight!). hope this alternate view helps:

"This was a fibreglass 'plug' door. The suction around the body pretty much held
it there, plus some internal pins front and back. To open it the pins came out
and you had to pull the door in slightly and slide it forward. We had an AFM
supplement, not sure if Dave still has one in EXC's AFM though."

Dr David Fitzgerald... the current owner of 500S VH-EXC is a member of this list
I am sure he would be 'close' to the paperwork and logbook entries in relation
to this mod.

Plane is remote from me at the moment but I'll see the flight manual on
Saturday and see if I can find the paperwork and scan and post it to the
