Hi Chris, There was one 520 at Cushing a number of years ago, but it moved to Perry by 2007 and is still there. The owner has since passed away and it's for sale. s/n is 86, N4179B. If there was another Commander there, then it could well be one of John Towner's, as he has a maintenance facility there. Best Regards, Barry -----Original Message----- From: owner-commander-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-commander-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Chris Sent: 07 February 2011 22:54 Subject: Re: Commander-List: Re: looking for 520 > Looking for a 520 that is in OK someplace. > > If any one has any ideas, please let me know. > No idea if it's what you're looking for, but I recall seeing a Commander stuffed in the corner of a hanger in Cushing, OK a few years ago. Couldn't tell the exact model as I taxied by, but appeared to be either a 520 or 560. There also was a 520 (definitely ) in a large hanger that appeared to be in fair shape. Chris

That's probably the one Barry. I recall that it was very close in s/n to my bird (4186B). Do you have any pix or know if it's listed online somewhere? If memory serves, it was in good condition when I last saw it although that was probably 10-ish years ago. chris Barry Collman wrote: > There was one 520 at Cushing a number of years ago, but it moved to Perry by > 2007 and is still there. > The owner has since passed away and it's for sale. > s/n is 86, N4179B. >

    From: "stratobee" <adam@adamfrisch.com>
So, I'm watching an online auction on a Bendix S6LN-50 magneto that's supposed to go on the GO-435-C2 that I have. But when I look up that engine, it says it should have an S6LN-20 magneto. Is this simply an older designation and can I buy it, or am I barking up the wrong tree? I sure wish I still had all the notes from my 520 days. There is a trick here and I'm trying to remember the details. The orig. mag is pretty much non-existent as I recall, but you can take the impulse coupler or drive dog off and install it on a slightly different model (which gets the shaft length right and is readily available) and it works perfectly. Ring a bell with anyone??? Morris? Check the TCDS between a -C2 and a -C2B2. Maybe that's where I figured that out. Not sure who ended up with the bones of 4186B after it's untimely demise, but the answer would be easy to determine by looking at the mags. chris
