Well, just a little update.
Initial listing sold to a preacher from Florida. He turned out to be a tire kicker
with no money and we're still chasing him for the escrow fee's. Next time
around it sold for a little more actually (seems like the twin market has at least
turned a corner). Although they haven't paid all of it yet, at least more
than half has arrived. This time it sold to some US based Russian who will fly
it via Alaska to Siberia come next summer!! Poor old girl is pressed into service
as a load hauler at her age - I'd hoped she'd get to relax a little in the
twilight of her years, but no. Then again, planes should be flown. Just before
sales concluded, the right hand fuel pump started leaking. Being the guy I
am, I couldn't in good conscience sell her off in that state, so I sent it in
for overhaul. Was an expensive little thing, but now it's done.
I've flown the old girl about 30 mins every week just to keep her juices going,
and everything works perfectly. It's very different than flying the Aerostar
of course, but what a great little aircraft she is now as I come back to her.
The other day I had a 27kts wind on the nose at takeoff, almost no gas and the
damn thing almost flew straight up like a bat out of hell! Couldn't believe it.
I was at 1000ft by the end of the rwy.
I wish I could keep them both and just have her as my Sunday ride, but I just can't
afford it. At least now I get to fly her once in awhile until they pay and
pick her up, which I'm grateful for. Be a sad day when she flies of to Russia.
