The 560A, N2775B, was there when I visited Kingman on September 25th 1995, but it was parked in a different place (see attached). When I enquired at the FBO office, I was told it had been sat there for a number of years, the owners having had a dispute. There was a couple in the office as well and I overheard the lady saying to her husband =9CI think he=99s from England. Do you think he knows George?=9D By a strange quirk of fate, I do know George. He=99s my car mechanic and always sorts out any problems. Don=99t see him that much though, as I=99ve got a BMW ;-) Very Best Regards, Barry From: owner-commander-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-commander-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of CloudCraft / K.S.Gordon Sent: 09 February 2014 03:47 Subject: Commander-List: AC560A at KIGM Sir Barry and Group, Was at Kingman, Arizona KIGM last week. From: "Steele, Bob" Subject: FW: Fwd:Most Amazing War-Plane In History !!! The most amazing airplane in History....For the Airplane Buffs Built in Russia during the 1930s, it flew 11 times before crashing and killing 15 people. The designer, Konstantin Kalinin, wanted to build two more planes but the project was scrapped. Later, Stalin had Kalinin executed. Evidently, it was not good to fail on an expensive project under Stalin .. It's got propellers on the back of the wings, too. You can count 12 engines facing front. The size would be equivalent to the Empire State Building on its side, with cannons. And you think the 747 was big... not only a bunch of engines but check out the cannons the plane was carrying. In the 1930s the Russian army was obsessed by the idea of creating huge planes. At that time they were proposed to have as many propellers as possible to help carrying those huge flying fortresses into the air, jet propulsion has not been implemented yet. Not many photos were saved from those times because of the high secrecy levels of such projects and because a lot of time has already passed. Still, on the attached photos you can see one such plane - a heavy bomber K-7. Can you imagine what it would be like sitting in this plane when those cannons go off? Good Afternoon Bob, I have seen other reports on this airplane, some of which claimed that no flights were made with all of the engines shown installed. It was also said that all of the armament was only for ground photos. Never flew when so equipped. Still a pretty amazing machine!
