The problem is that the propeller, after the oil is good and warmed up, wants to
go to feather at any RPM less than 1500-1800. Oil pressure is good at the back
of the engine, have tried different governors, have changed props.

Sounds like the featherlocks on the propeller bulkhead. There are three sp
ring loaded locks or "stops" to keep the propeller from going onto feather
at low RPM. Remove the spinner dome and you will see them. Check to make
certain they are extending. If they are it is the seal between the cranksh
aft and the gearbox. Was the gearbox recently changed??
