Hi Fellow Commander Drivers=2C For many years I have used Flitesoft software for my flight planning=2C the y have recently gone out of business and therefore I am seeking a replaceme nt=2C and would appreciate any suggestions. Here is my situation: No longer IFR current=2C and therefore only fly VFR Fly below 18=2C000 MSL ...mostly 16=2C500 to 17=2C500 Fly mostly in the Southwest US (NM=2C AZ=2C TX=2C CA=2CCO=2CNV) Still look at weather maps on my computer=2C get a personal FSS weather br iefing before flying=2C so the interface with weather forecasts is not impo rtant to me. Thanks! Moe Mills N680RR 680F(p)

Moe,=0A=0AWe met years ago at a seminar for flying across the Atlantic at S porty's in Ohio.=0A=0AI had a 500S.- Never made the trip but the seminar was outstanding.- I now fly a Geronimo (a highly modified Apache).=0A=0AI have used the Garmin app with their antenna and an I pad mini.- The ante nna was about $700.00 (now it is closer to $500.00)-and the deluxe app ru ns about $150.00 a year.- That includes everything...IFR maps, VFR maps, geo referenced taxi ways and all the approach plates (also geo referenced). - This is-in addition to all the weather information and terrain data. -It is like playing a video game. -I have been very happy with it.- I chose Garmin as I am flying with a 530 and a 496 and have for years so I t hought it prudent to stay with Garmin.=0A=0AGeo referencing places your air craft right on whatever map or plate you are looking at.=0A=0AThe new Garmi n antenna ($800.00)-now is set up for 3-D and will also provide SynVis-3D vision.- I don't have that antenna and fly in basically the flat lands o f Michigan so it is more of a novelty that a necessity.=0A=0AProbably more information than you wanted,=0A=0ADon =0A=0A=0AOn Monday, July 14, 2014 9:3 7 PM, Moe Mills <moe-rosspistons@hotmail.com> wrote:=0A =0A=0A=0A =0AHi Fe llow Commander Drivers,=0A-=0AFor many years I have used Flitesoft softwa re for my flight planning, they have recently gone out of business and ther efore I am seeking a replacement, and would appreciate any suggestions.=0A -=0AHere is my situation:=0A-=0ANo-longer IFR current, and therefore only fly VFR=0AFly below 18,000 MSL ...mostly 16,500 to 17,500=0AFly mostly in the Southwest US (NM, AZ, TX, CA,CO,NV)=0AStill look at weather maps on my computer, get a personal FSS- weather briefing before flying, so the interface with weather forecasts is not important to me.=0A-=0AThanks!=0A =============
