Subject: | Re: A-65 rebuild |
just a follow up re our O200 crank:
Aircraft Specialties Services has my case/crank/cam. They sent the case to Crankcase
Services and it is being checked for defects.
If the case checks ok, then we will probably buy a new crank from Aircraft Specialties.
We will probably buy our rings, bearings, etc from them too.
If not, we are going to consider other options.
Thanks for all the comments. I learned a lot.

Mario, Sounds OK to me. I don't think anyone could advise you as to
purchase the engine or not. I think you are on your own.

Hello Mario:
A couple things that might help you decide considering your distance are:
How long ago was this overhaul done?
When was the last time this engine ran?
Is there any damage history?
To determine the original quality of the overhaul, you might offer to pay a
fair amount to have the log books photocopied or scanned, then mailed or
emailed to you so you can review the history.
The term "major overhaul" is very broad and can be mean anything from one
done at the Continental factory to one done on the tailgate of a truck in
front of the airplane.
Any of the above will lead to more questions.
Best of luck,
Randy, Las Vegas

What was "nonsense" about the question?
You clearly stated:
"I do not opretend you decide for me, but it will be comfortable fot me
listen"
Exchange of advice and opinion is the purpose of these forums? I always
thought so.
The only dumb question is the one not asked, right?

Randy, Las Vegas

Is there a way to hook up a tachometer to an A-65 without using a
mechanical tach? Maybe a tach generator and an electric tach? Any ideas are welcome.
