I have a 0-200 Continental engine in my Kitfox with Slick 4301 magnetos. I=99m using a key start switch just like a Cessna 150 installation. My question is on the switch jumper. Some references say with dual impulse couplings one needs a jumper across terminal 1, others say not to use it. What have others done? Thanks Jim jezim@pro-ns.net ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 07:27:58 AM PST US Subject: Re: Continental-List: Magneto Switch ? From: FLYaDIVE Jim: If you have DUAL Impulse coupling Mags then you DO NOT use the jumper. BUT! I would suggest: Use a separate Push Start for the switch just like Grumman's have. The Mag Switch would be Left - Right & BOTH ... You would start on BOTH and and use the separate Push Button and you eliminate a AD issue... Yes, I know experimental, no AD but the problem still exists with the switch AND it gives you options if the switch should fail. I don't plan to use any vacuum gauges so I want to take it off to save weight. Is there a plate or cover that I could get to seal off the engine. Also are there any gears or whatever that need to be removed when the pump is taken off? Any help appreciated. I would use 0.125" aluminum 6061 or 7075 with a gasket. And since you are sealing it almost permanently use a slight smear of Hi Temp RTV. NO - There aren't any gears to remove.
