--> Corvette-List message posted by: travis battreal <travisbattreal@yahoo.com> Nice vette! Cool stereo installation also. I`ve been thinking about a speaker installation similar to yours exept in the old cars there isn`t the room behind the seats as in the C-5. Perhaps the woofers could be recessed and `glassed in. I very much dislike working with fiberglass although it`s "vette appropriate". The `glass planes are slick, fast, and classy, just like a vette, but if I have to build it, it will be wood. Also my budget doesn`t allow for `glass planes or a C5 but I really like both. Maybe when the car is 30 and I`m 70... Thanks for the reply. --- Matt Dralle <dralle@matronics.com> wrote: > --> Corvette-List message posted by: Matt Dralle > <dralle@matronics.com> > > I'm here too. --> Corvette-List message posted by: "Tom & Cathy Ervin" <tcervin@valkyrie.net> Travis, Take from a guy who has been into Vettes for over 30 years "ANY" Modification from original will decrease the value. You can paint a Yellow Vette Red if you want but be prepared to a take beating when you sell it. ( as just an example) Lock at the auctions for proof: An all original vet with documentation will always bring more than a beautiful non numbers matching car. A pink Vette (Ugly) that needs a paint job for example is worth the same amount to the "Real Buyers" as if it had a $6000.00 Red Paint Job. In either case the car needs stripped and painted the original color to get it's real value back. People with the Bucks want numbers matching "And" documentation to prove it! Modifying a Vette is the best way to lose money I can think off. --> Corvette-List message posted by: travis battreal <travisbattreal@yahoo.com> Thanks, I know that you are right. I have questioned the authenticity of much of the car over the years as I`ve gotten to know it. I`m not so much of a purist as I just like for things to be right. I think the matching numbers were a lost cause before I bought it. I didn`t realise the importance of this at the time. A fellow here in town is parting out a couple and it`s tempting. --- Tom & Cathy Ervin <tcervin@valkyrie.net> wrote: > --> Corvette-List message posted by: "Tom & Cathy > Ervin" <tcervin@valkyrie.net> > > Travis, Take from a guy who has been into Vettes > for over 30 years "ANY" > Modification from original will decrease the value. > You can paint a Yellow > Vette Red if you want but be prepared to a take > beating when you sell it. > ( as just an example) > Lock at the auctions for proof: An > all original vet with > documentation will always bring more than a > beautiful non numbers matching > car. > A pink Vette (Ugly) that needs a > paint job for example is > worth the same amount to the "Real Buyers" as if it > had a $6000.00 Red Paint > Job.
