Subject: | Headlight actuator and radio replacement |
--> Corvette-List message posted by: "Tony Babb" <tonybabb@alejandra.net>
I have an 89 coupe and have a couple of questions.
Recently the passenger side headlight actuator has started to behave
strangely. When raising the light it stops about half way up then either
continues to open fully or stays where it is - half way up. This is
intermittent and usually goes away when I retry it a couple of times. Anyone
have any suggestions or do I need a new actuator?
I'm going to replace the Bose radio/cassette with a Blaupunkt radio/CD
player - the cassette drive stopped working a while ago. The Bose has 6
speakers and I believe each speaker has it's own built-in amplifier. The
Blaupunkt supports 4 speakers without amplifiers. Am I right thinking that:
1) I have to bypass the existing Bose amplifiers and connect the existing
speakers direct to the speaker wire from the Blaupunkt radio;
2) I can't drive 6 speakers from a 4 speaker radio
3) It's probably best to connect the new radio to the speakers in the rear
and the door for ease of access to bypass the amplifiers in the speakers -
or - is there an easy way to get at the speakers on the top of the dash
Thanks all,
Tony

I have an 89 coupe, I'm the original owner and we're growing old together as
gracefully as we can.
This list is quiet but seems like there's a lot of folks lurking so here's a
couple of question for you all
Recently the engine has started to hunt up and down 100 rpm or so when hot
and idling. Doesn't seem to happen much when the engine is warming up. Any
thoughts?
For the past few months there has been a clicking noise coming from the
passenger side rear radio speaker (Bose system). The click is there whether
the engine is running or not, and doesn't vary in volume when I adjust the
volume control. It clicks a couple of times a second or so.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Tony

list...Matt bought a C-5 back in 2001, and I did also, so that is how the
list started...He had oil consumption problems with his stick shift
version...Several of us mentioned to him that he was "throwing" it by going
to max RPM in every gear...That must have been the problem, for we didn't
hear much of anything from him after that, or from anyone...I posted some
C-5 birthday bash info that was taking place at the Museum and Factory in
Bowling Green, Ky., but didn't archive...Sooo, it has been a very quiet and
unused list...If you belong to a club or etc., maybe you can stir-up some
traffic with your comrades.............................CHEERS!!!!
