Hey, I'm in the same boat with you. I suspect that either nobody lives here anymore, or just checking the box to sign up for the forum isn't sufficient.

This is like the Internet version of "The Day After".( An old movie about a nuclear disaster. With people only surviving here and there!) I was shopping for a C2, couldn`t afford anything that was in good shape. Then I went the C3 route, the only thing I found there were cars that had small engines and big prices. I lost a C4 in a garage fire, replaced that with a C5. Then my wife said she would like a C5, thus my current quest. Hi All, I'm here too! I have a sweet 2001 C5 with about 43k on it. It has a custom competition stereo system that I installed back in 2002. Here's a URL to the construction documentation: http://www.matronics.com/personal/TheVette/Stereo/ I love the Vette. What a dream car. They really got it right with the C5's and it just keeps getting better with the C6, etc. I'm totally drooling over the announcement of the new C6 LT1 with 600hp. What a nice ride. At $110k, though, its starting to get a little pricing. A friend of mine is buying a house for $150,000 and thinks I'm crazy for looking at a car for nearly as much. :-) What do you guys think of the LT1? Ready to run out and order one? Unless I hit the lottery, If I were to buy a 600 HP car. I would need to know that it included a 600HP clutch. I have read that the C6 clutch can`t handle the power the engine already has. My C5 has 345 HP and I can`t use all of that and still be legal on the street. The other day I jumped on the interstate, (there was no other traffic) I got on it moderately and was doing 92 mph. in forth gear. I coasted through fifth and sixth, and slowed back down to 65 mph. What would I do with 600 HP? I will be surprised if GM sells as many $110,000.00 cars as they do $55,000.00 cars, maybe they will, we will see. Also I don`t know how practical a turbo charged Vet would be as a daily driver. I guess only the future will tell. Would I take a LT1 if it were given to me? In a heart beat? Lanny ________________________________ Message 8 _____________________________________ Time: 01:20:34 PM PST US From: "Doug Dodson" Subject: RE: Corvette-List: New LT1 Take it to a club day at the local road course race track. You can use that entire 345 HP, the big brakes and big tires too! Lots of fun, legal and safe! Try this on for size: www.openroadracing.com www.silverstateclassic.com I have run all 5 of those events, once in the 150 mph speed class. I have run at 165 mph for miles and miles... all legal and as safe as that can really ever be in a car without a roll cage. More safety equipment needed to really run in the fast groups, but less wear and tear on the tires for sure. After a dozen or so days on the track with a bit of informal training, I think I could make use of a bit more tire. More HP is always fun. Douglas L. I've also thought of installing an LS-7 with a 6-speed auto in it also. =C2- Until I have a whole lot of spare money, I'll just keep driving my Tahoe.
