I'm here too, been a member a couple of years, I
think. I usually don't open the emails because there
usually aren't any messages. I have a '96 coupe, daily
driver, with almost 70,000 miles on it. It's my second
Corvette. My first was a '93 Ruby. I feel the same way
about my car that some of you feel about yours. I feel
like it's perfect. I love the full clamshell hood so I
don't have to lean across fiberglass to get to the
engine. I love the fuel filler hole in the center of
the back so it doesn't matter which side the pump is
on when I pull into a station. I love the headlights
that roll up and love the balance of crisp and soft
lines of the body. There's a lot of room under the
hatch, more than two golfbags' worth. I can even carry
8' stock lumber, if I want to. I've done it before,
diagonally from the left back corner to the pax
footwell, and was able to close the hatch. I've asked
all 300 horses of my happy little LT1 to gallop. I got
it up to 136mph on a 6,003foot strip of pavement, and
could have gotten it faster if I didn't back out of
the throttle so early, and taken out the 50lb bag of
horse feed from the back, and put premium gas instead
of regular, and didn't have a nearly 200lb ballast in
the right seat saying, "that's enough, that's enough,"
with growing anxiety in his voice. Of course, when he
took the left seat, he pushed on up to 139mph before
backing off. It was a spur of the moment decision to
make the runs. Preparation would be better. NO, I
won't say where I was.
Ego would love 600+hp. I don't see why the clutch or
any other part couldn't handle that engine when the
car's used as a daily driver, or even on the track.
Look at race cars. I'd prefer normally aspirated and
higher volume than the new ZR1, such as the C6RS with
its 8liters and C6R styling, though the clear hood
sections of the ZR1 are very cool. But again, that's
ego because the new ZR1 is smaller volume than ZO6.
For some reason, size matters, at least
psychologically. The cost is unreal. I'd rather stick
with my bargain basement 'glass. Another thing I love
about the C4s, they can be had for reasonable cost
right now.

I'm on the list too. I started the TeamGrumman-List (www.AuCountry.com).
I joined the Corvette list to see if there was any activity. That was some a
few years back.
I had a 69 427 Corvette in 75. I've often pondered the concept of a 79-71 Corvette
with a C-5/C-6 chassis or just a major redo of the 70-71 suspension to
take advantage of newer technology. I've also thought of installing an LS-7 with
a 6-speed auto in it also.
Until I have a whole lot of spare money, I'll just keep driving my Tahoe.

Subject: Corvette-List: Is anyone out there?
I own a 2000 FRC, I have been subscribed to this list for several months and have
yet to receive a list related E-mail. I also belong to the KOLB list that has
lots of activity, and several Corvette forums with daily postings. Is there
something wrong with my computer set up, or am I the only Corvette owner on this
list at this time? Someone please reply, I feel so alone! Lanny PS I am shopping
for a C5 for my wife, I live in northeastern Pa.
