--> Cub-List message posted by: "Rick Lutes" <rlutes@owc.net> Del, I don't know how much a J3 will lift. I guess there are a lot of variables there: engine size, type of floats, wind & water conditions, length of the lake, pilot technique...I do know of a 90 HP J3 with two 12 gallon wing tanks and the fuselage tank. I don't know if it ever flew with full fuel and two people on board, but my guess is that it did... Maybe someone else knows more about it and would comment. Last summer I learned that as the gross weight goes up, the effect of any C.G. shifts or excursions become much more obvious on floats than on wheels. I noticed the tails of the floats sit deeper, sometimes submerged, in the water while taxiing heavy, with aft C.G. (a good reason to keep the aft compartment access covers well sealed!). You might want to put an add out on the Barnstormers site or in the SPA magazine to look for Cub rigging for your EDO's.? --> Cub-List message posted by: <dpgtech@bellsouth.net> I understand your concerns about staying away from a toxic system, but check whatever you use carefully. If you are referring to Blue River Systems I heard that it delaminates. --> Cub-List message posted by: <dpgtech@bellsouth.net> For those of you that are tired of servicing your expander tube brakes relief is on the horizion. Grove Aircraft Brakes has developed disc brakes that will replace the brake drums and give us hydrolics on our 8.00 x 4 wheels. So now we can get safe brakes and are able to keep the original tires. Grove is still waiting for FAA/PMA approval.
