I use Goodyear flightmate II and wear out the left one about every 150 hours. Then
discard the worn one rotate the right to the left and put a new one on the
right side. The wheels have good alignment but there is about 1/32 or 1/16 rotational
play at the oleo so some minor misalign does happen under load. I have
always thought that the torque of T/O requiring big R rudder input is responsible
for most of the left tire wear.

I've noticed over almost 4000 hours that we have to change our tires about every
300 hours.
I write down how many landings we make in our logbook, but I've never taken the
time to total them between tire changes.
But on the assumption that we fly an average flight of 1 hour, that's only 300
landings.
Seems awful quick to be going thru tires. (Have have a long runway here and I don't
use brakes much.)
Wondering what kind of life others are getting?
(These are Desser retreads.)
Ours is a Glasair II FT, with extended wing tips, no slotted flaps. We "come of
the fence" at 70 KIAS.
