Ok Gang, need to plumb the knowledge banks to track and fix a Nanchang air
leak. Both main and emergency tanks leak down to 21 ATMs overnight with air
valves closed. All pressures pump up and fill normally after start. No
audible air leaks noted, first problem in 20 years of ownership. New
Emergency tank was installed last month during annual...(note: old
emergency tank would leak out completely overnight). Firewall check valves
were replaced about 6 years ago, Doug Sapp stainless air valve put into
main air valve maybe 5 years. Where to start?

Subject: Yak-List: Starting coil wire
Hello
I cannot start the engine and I have checked the wire between the Starting
coil and the left magneto, as Dennis explained in others messages.
The end of the wire seems to be burned. I have checked the continuity and
it
is ok but not touching the spring.
Could you give me any advice? Is it possible to buy a new one wire complet
e?
the spring must be replaced?
Best regards

Subject: Yak-List: Yak-52 Intercom adjustment
From: "Looigi" <cdoburton@gmail.com>
Hello All,
The intercom and radio in our Yak-52 is a little quiet and hard to hear in
the
back seat of out Yak-52 even with the volume all the way up.=C2- It has
been modified
(like most I guess) to have the western GA type plugs but still retains th
e
original SPU-9 intercom, Baklan radio etc.=C2- We have tried multiple he
adsets
and they are all the same.
Is there an adjustment somewhere in the guts of the intercom I can tweak?
Many thanks
Chris

Skip,
I would go back to the check valves on the firewall firstsince both main
and emergency are leaking down. 5-6 years without a check valve problem
is excellent. But as we all know, they do not last indefinitely. Might
be a good idea to bite the bullet and rebuild all of them and be done
with it.

Subject: | Re: Yak-List Digest: 2 Msgs - 01/10/18 |
I have the same problem on our CJ, although it=99s just the emergency t
ank that bleeds off to about 30 atmospheres after a week of sitting. In the p
ast, overhauling the starboard firewall check valves solved the problem, but
not now. So, it would seem that source of the slow leak could be the emerge
ncy shutoff valve, the emergency gauge or the air line serving both.
Because the emergency tank immediately recharges upon starting, I=99ve
been too lazy to pursue it, reasoning that I=99ll deal with at annual
. Shame on me.
