The time has come to seek out an engine for my bird. The Europa is primarily built around the Rotax 912/914, but if you've priced one lately you'll understand why I'm looking in other directions. A number of other powerplants are being used in Europa's, but I'm mainly interested in the Jabiru 3300. I saw this engine at Sun-n-Fun last week and I must say it is an impressive piece of work. However, looks can be deceiving. I'm wondering if anyone here has working experience with the Jabiru 3300? Comments? But when I was investigating the Jabiru 6000 (the eight-cylinder) I talked to many owners of the 2200 and 3300, to get their impression of the engines. The unanimous opinion was that they were great engines. In fact, not one person said even one negative thing about the engines, and several admitted that they couldn't think of anything negative to say if they tried. There were a couple of not-fully-positive comments about the U.S. dealer, but nothing shocking. You will NEVER be able to hand prop this engine, it must be spun with a starter and spun fast. If the battery gets low it will not start. It could use a little bit stronger ignition system. Oh, yeah, the exhaust system that comes with it is junk,I have heard. Many leaks everywhere. This is from a friend who had a 2200 on a Kitfox IV. -- > The short answer is that I don't.
