--> Engines-List message posted by: j1j2h3@juno.com Hi Luc I am interested in the filters, but don't know anything about them. Could you enlighten me? Is their degree of filtration equal to the spin-on cartridges? I bought an older Lycomining 0-320 and am not nearly ready to install it, so don't know a whole lot about it. It doesn't appear to have any oil filter at present, so I am going to need something. I think 70 filters would last me a long time, but are further replacements available if I should use them all? --> Engines-List message posted by: "Martini Luc J.R." <martini@foxinternet.net> Hi. If you are doing an RV-7, this is definitely NOT the filter you want. Winslow went out of business about 10 years ago. They made the FIRST FULL-FLOW oil filter. The system involved a massive tank, with a lid held on by Marmon clamp. The cartridges that fit in that tank, were of course very large. over 12' tall, and more than 6 inches in diameter. But in their day, they were the best there was.. 100 hr filters, that improved engine life substantially. So, I was hoping to find someone that had an original Winslow System installed on their airplane.. They were STC'd for many birds. The Aerocommanders were just one of those many. The best NEW system I have seen is made by "Aviation Development Corp" . Global Aviation sells them. You can do a search at www.google.com for their website. Their phone No. is 800-944-3011 Luc ----- Original Message ----- From: <j1j2h3@juno.com> Subject: Engines-List: Re: Engines-List Digest: 1 Msgs - 06/22/03 > --> Engines-List message posted by: j1j2h3@juno.com > > Hi Luc > > I am interested in the filters, but don't know anything about them. > Could you enlighten me? --> Engines-List message posted by: "Martini Luc J.R." <martini@foxinternet.net> Hi again. One word of caution.. you mentioned you got an older Lyc. O-32O, and you implied that your project is on hold for a while... I very very strongly suggest, as Lycoming does, that you not only Pickle your engine, but every few months, turn it upside down,(if you have the top end sealed), because the Cam and/or Followers (located in the top portion of the case, i.e not sitting in oil) will get pitted if you don't.. Your engine will last only a few hours before it wears through the hardened parts, and grinds the lobes down to nothing.
