That means that sometimes I have less than 25 hours on the oil. I'm wondering if I really need to change the oil filter when I'm draining oil that has only 18 or 20 hours on it, but has been in service 3 months? Thanks for any info. Many privately owned airplanes go to TBO after getting only one 50 Hr (or Less) oil change a year for 20 years. Especially with the new Aeroshell 15W-50, I have no problem with you going 50 hrs/12 months whichever comes first if used for flights regularly more than 1 hr. For flights less than 1 hr then do 25 hrs/6 mos. I haven't seen any engine internals that would need to go more often than this. Oh yeah, both Lyc and Cont spec oil filter change every OTHER oil change. JMO, Linc posted by: "Randy Compton" " I change my oil every 3 months or 25 hours, whichever comes first.
