What I do disagree with is people clicking the "reply" button and including the complete file with their reply. For those of us in the digest mode it gets tedious scrolling down through the garbage to get to the two lines of a new message. Just click "reply", copy to the clipboard what is pertinent, then press ctrl A and then "delete." Click ctrl "V" to put the saved clip back in and type away. Now, that wasn't too hard was it? The lowest FWF weight I am aware of is 290Lbs. Mine is closer to 340lbs that includes block, all manifolds, coolant system (radiators), motor mount, fuel system, vaccum system (I use a 9 lb smog pump), electrical system, starter, generator, motor mount, etc. and my exhaust system is out of schedule 40 stainless steel pipe (rather than tubing). Exhaust system counting heavy pipe header and mufflers is around 26lbs. I also use large (heavy) stainless steel braided hoses for coolant lines while others use good quality radiator hoses. I now know I have sort of "overbuilt" on some of the components and could probably reduce the weight FWF by a good 20 lbs-30lbs or more. The twin rotor 13B engine block itself (without the manifolds) weights 190 lbs Ed Anderson RV-6A N494BW Rotary Powered Matthews, NC eanderson@carolina.rr.com ----- Original Message ----- From: Subject: Engines-List: Re: Engines-List Digest: 6 Msgs - 10/08/03 > --> Engines-List message posted by: ALEMBIC7@aol.com > > You guys probably know and perhaps would tell me about how heavy one of these > 13b rotary installations is, installed with reduction drive, muffler, etc? > Thanks > A lurker > > ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 08:14:33 AM PST US From: "Fergus Kyle" Subject: Re: Engines-List: off-topic --> Engines-List message posted by: "Fergus Kyle" From: "Gary Casey" | <>| | I can't disagree with that. Also it's very nice when folks set their mail program to put the reply at the top, so you don't have to dig down to read it. - Larry ---- Subject: Re: Engines-List: off-topic ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 08:46:57 PM PST US From: "Tracy Crook" Subject: Re: Engines-List: RE: Rotary engine displacement --> Engines-List message posted by: "Tracy Crook" > > > The rotary is what it is and can't be compared to a > > piston engine by using displacement. My point was that the only *displacement* that counts is how many CFM of fuel/air mixture the engine pumps at its operational RPM. It this respect, ANY engine can be compared with another. I won't bore anyone with the math again but if you bother to check, the 13B rotary and the O - 360 Lycoming figure out to the same CFM of air pumped (at full throttle). That's why they both make about the same power. Tracy Crook
