For anybody who has been interested in a diesel alternative - I finally
received an email update from Zoche in Germany concerning their remarkable
300 hp radial diesel engine. This would really work well on my RV8A but I
have a hunch it will be expensive. Anyone have any additional info?

Dear Doug,
The first time I read a KITPLANES magazine was in the summer of 1989(?) way back
(or is it rather down?) in Sydney, Australia.
They talked about the ZOCHE Aero-Diesel way back then already. Then I went to
OSH in '92 & '95 and saw the beast. Just beautiful.
Now fifteen yrs. later, we are not only in the next century, but rather in a whole
different milllenium, so don't bother to waste your time on waiting for the
ZOCHE Aero-Diesel to ever come through. (I've heard my share of ". . . next
year, next year for sure!").
BTW: Zoche claims a weight of 271lbs. for the engine. They have published this
weight since I first got interested at it in '89, and they still claim the same
weight today. However, they have since added multiple intercoolers, etc. to
the engine (and all that without a weight increase?). But its probably just
an "oversight" for them to not include the extra weight on their website? Sounds
to fishy for my taste.
Konrad
P.S. My family lives some 60+mls from ZOCHE's H.Q., so on one of my visits a few
years back I called them for a tour of the facility, etc.etc.
"but they were way too BUSY with development and certification of the engine to
have time for that". That was probably 4~5 years ago.
In other words, I would not bet a dime of my money on ZOCHE to actually come through
(would like to see it happen though)!
Please DO NOT ARCHIVE this Zoche Stuff, as it will be a waste of cyber space.

I think the alloy used in the ZOCHE Aero-Diesel is "Unobtainium"!
IF it ever should become available, it may be to expensive for most of us to still
be able to have some money left over to have fun with it.
Some airplanes are Hangar-Queen's, and this engine seems to be a Paper-Queen.
Sorry, I couldn't resist / please do not archive
