Hi,
Is there anyone here using the J3300 engine? I know there is a Jabiru engine
list but seldom see anything regarding this engine. Maybe this is a good
sign.
I have a Kitfox and looking for comments before deciding on an engine.

Hi Arthur,
There's a Jabiru forum sponsored by Matronics. Lots of activity over there
and the various dealers frequently chime in with technical help. I'm pretty sure
there are some folks with them in Kitfoxes, although I think the engine of
choice is the 80hp 2200.
I'm building a Europa and am considering the Jab 3300, although preliminary
weight and balance calculations make it look like it'll be too heavy with a CS
prop and the resulting ballast I would need to make it work will seriously
limit my useful load. The Europa is built around the Rotax 912S/914. The Jab is
a
neat engine, though. I flew in a Jabiru J-400 with a 3300 powerplant with
Andy Silvester from Gulfcoast Sportplanes and was very impressed with the engine.
Very smooth and very quiet. Very simple installation as compared to the
Rotax, too. My only gripe is the mechanical lifters. You'll be adjusting the valves
every 25-30 hours. It's a beautiful piece of work, though, and it runs like a
sewing machine.
