Joe,
I believe that when all is said and done, you may end up with an unknown
piece, little savings, and some risk.
If your oil analysis is ok, and it meets static compression, you are ok for
now.
I have seen two engines that ran over 3000 hrs and were still running fine.
Would also recommend that if you really plan on keeping your plane, get
together with an a&p to overhaul your engine.
You can literally save thousands, get some experience in engine work, and
have a finer end result.

Someone suggested to me I try wentworthaircraft.com (I'm looking for an
IO-360 for my RV-7A). I just now sent them an e-mail but I don't know
anything about them - anybody out there with experience good/bad?
