The following is being posted again since it apparently didn't go
through during the recent period that Matt Dralle found problems with
submissions being blocked.
Can anyone recommend a source for a 12 volt solenoid-operated fuel
valve. It needs to be a normally closed (spring loaded?) valve with 12
volt DC power required to hold in the open position. Preferably set up
for AN fittings or at least female pipe threads of no less than 1/4 inch
ID. Thanks for any help.

Jim,
You might look at the following link to Van's for this part. Van's has very
good pricing as well.:

This is from my AMT March 2005 And is regarding Certificated Aircraft The
owner of the owner produced part does not have to make the part himself.
However to be considered as an owner approved part the owner must have
participated in the controlling the design manufacture or quality of the part
such as
1) provide the manufacturer with the design of performance data from which
to make the part or 2) provide the manufacturer with the materials to make
the part or 3) provide the manufacture with the fabrication process or
assembly methods to make the part or 4) provide the quality control procedures
to
make the part or 5) personally supervise the manufacturer of the part. One of
the most important things to remember about owner produced parts is an owner
or his agent can not automatically make a part by reverse engineering it.
You need an approved data trail. Either make the part using original
drawings, have a DER make some drawings or make your own drawings of the part
and
have the data field approved by the local FSDO. The FAA allows the owner to
contract out for the manufacture of the part to his mechanic or any one else
and still have a part that is considered owner produced as long as the owner
participated in one of the five functions listed. The owner needs to play
the part in controlling the design and manufacture. log book could say the
part is identified as an owner produced part CFAR 21.303 b 2. The part was
manufactured in accordance with approved data. The owner/ operator
participation in the manufacture of the part is identified such as quality control
or
supervision. The owner should declare the part is airworthy and sign and date.
As the mechanic whom is going to install this owner approved part you must
ensure that it meets form fit and function and ensure that it meets approved
type design. The owner is responsible for the part meeting type design
and is in a condition for safe operation. The mechanic is responsible for the
installation that its airworthy and a record of installation is made. Once
the part is on the aircraft it is treated as any other part. It s safe to
say a repairman would be interchangeable as the mechanic on these
experimental aircraft. Just info David

It depends on the application. I have one of these valves used as a
primer but I don't know if they are rated for continuous operation. I
believe they come equipped with 18th NPT ports as well.
As I said don't know what your intending to do but make sure your not
designing a single point of failure into your fuel system

Oh, great, thanks!
I bought a second hand 582, with a C gearbox. Right now, it is sitting on
my workbench, and I am in the "getting to know you" phase, familiarizing
myself with the engine.
I am considering an inverted installation, and have an rk-400 clutch I would
like to install.
If you don't mind, could I bounce any questions off you?

Jim, I have the valve that Van sells with a primer kit. I have decided
to use the hand primer and will sell just the valve and ship it to you
for $50.00 plus $5.00 postage with a guarantee that it is new. Call me
at 830-372-0444 to discuss it if you are interested.
