I have an O-320 (E3D) with 1000 hours since new with new rings and bearings
intalled at about 850 hours. With my prop, I can easily run 2800 rpms at lower
altitudes and 2700 at 8000'. I know the redline is 2700, but curious how
detrimental to run this engine at the higher speeds for a couple of hours,
assuming fresh oil and general state of tune per specifications? Running dual
Slick
mags on stock engine. I know a higher prop pitch would be an option, but
don't want to sacrifice present climb rate.
Thanks-

Just a matter of declining TBO. The airboat guys run them as much as 3300 RPM.
At some point TBO shrinks to zero of course.
2800 is not that bad. I'd keep it rather than give up ROC.
Tracy (running 5600 at cruise. Apples & Oranges naturally)
