Opps, My message should have said...
"the following link has an exploded view of a mag with a similar IC setup"
It is not your slick mag per say. It was only intended to highlight the
relative placement of the IC parts to the mag.

On my Cessna, the spacer is about 1/2-3/4" thick and visable between the mag
and the engine case. (look close and compare the two).

Dear Dean,
If you have two mags (one with-/one without I.C.), then one should stick out
further from the accessory case than the other (normally the left mag) due
to the additional width of an adapterplate/spacer which is necessary for the
extra space needed for the Impulse Coupling. If both are the same distance,
then you either have NO Impulse Coupling, or you have two (but I daubt it!).

Anyone know how to tell if a Slick mag has impulse coupling or not? I
don't have the prop on yet so I can't turn the engine over and listen for
the tell-tale snap. I'd rather not remove the mag or turn the engine over
with the starter until the airplane is completely finished. Can I get
impulse coupling information from the Mag serial/model numbers or
otherwise
figure this out by looking at the mag when installed on the engine?

In addition to an extra spacer between the mag and accessory housing the
model # with tell you. You probably have a 4371 impulse mag and a 4370
non-impulse mag on the RH side.
