Questions --> Engines-List message posted by: Gary Casey I'm afraid I can't answer the questions you ask, but can add that there is a "gotcha" on the rear governor. Between the governor and the engine there is a thin steel plate that is very important. Sometimes, because it is stuck to the gasket on each side, it gets unknowingly discarded. The gasket will probably seal without the plate, but possibly - and this has happened many times - the gasket will sooner or later blow out with the resulting total oil loss. I'm not sure if this plate is only in the "D" dual mag engine or in all the rear-mounted governors. Another important thing is to make sure that the steel line (make sure it is steel, not aluminum) to the front of the engine is supported in the proper locations. There is an old AD note that covers this. Gary Casey > > I am thinking of putting an IO-360-A1A engine in my RV-7A. I have printed it out and will make sure I have the plate if I should have it. do not archive Thanks, Dan Hopper RV-7A In a message dated 7/29/2006 9:44:36 A.M.
