If they will ever have a little zen moment of enlightenment & realize that they've got to beat the Lyc price point to sell any volume, they will likely sell a lot of engines. (No government money involvement is an encouraging sign.) I'm building a -7. Motor mount & cooling system are much bigger concerns to me than the custom cowl. If you aren't too far along, keep an eye on Mistral. they are pretty far along in the certification process on a Wankel (Mazda) rotary, & intend to build a spark assisted diesel version after certification is completed on the gas version.

Whew! Talk about price point! I love the whole idea of an aviation rotary, but last time I looked, weren't they asking $29,000 or so? (Oops...$31,500 for the 190 hp.) Same reason I gave up my delivery position for the $19,000 DeltaHawk which in the event turned out to be $29,000. Finally bought an ECI O-360 from Mattituck for $18k. John Do Not Archive
