    =0AHi!- I-bought a carburetor and had it rebuilt.-The studs on it are one inch long =0A=0Aunder the carb and they are not-screwed in far into the carb.. (see pictures). I =0A=0Aam trying to remove them and I cannot... ..     Heat the casting, not the stud. Try e-Bay.     Mike: The two nuts is a good starting approach. What do you mean by a "split nut"? Then use THREE nuts OR get a stud removing tool. Make sure the nuts you use are HARDENED NUTS. NO cheap Chinese or Home Depot CRAP! Line up the flats of the nuts so you can put a 6 Point Deep socket over ALL the nuts. NO cheap 12 or 16 Point sockets. Use LOW impact vibration either with a impact wrench or a Tap Hammer. Heating the stud is WRONG. When you heat - You heat the expandable part so it moves AWAY from the part you want to remove. Of course this is an aluminum casting so you DO NOT want to heat it. Get some PB Blast or Mouse Milk and let it soak it a shallow pan with it over night. If things get stripped you will have to install Heli-Coils. How are you holding the carb while you try to remove the studs?     It looks to me like the threads into the carb body are an interference fit. removing them and reinstalling them too many times (or even at all) may not be recommended. Structurally it looks like they are in far enough to properly secure the carb. Is there an interference problem with them not being threaded in all the way? Or are they the wrong length for your application? If not I would leave them and run it. If so the methods described by evryone should work. Double nut and heating the case around the stud. Most stud extractors I have seen/used can damage the stud, especially the threads where they grab it. If you use one you may need to replace the studs.
