try the double nut trick again.
tighten the 2 nuts against each other, hard, put a washer in between if you like.
Then put wrench in INSIDE ( case side ) nut & screw stud out.
You will easily get enough grip to snap the stud off, without nuts slipping !
if you think an open end wrench will just round off the inside nut, trap an closed
end wrench under the washer on assembly.
