A few days ago there was discussion about the door-distortion effect of the as
struts and an offer from Ted Gladstone to share pictures of his modificarion to
overcome this.
These are now available at
http://www.crixbinfield.freeserve.co.uk/Mods/strut.htm
Also a couple of corrections to the stuff from Bob Harrison about wing dollies
posted a couple of days ago.

exactly the same distortion occured on my factory built grob 109b
it has taken 16 years to bend out about 1/2 an inch
no apparent water leaks but some wind noise noticed
looks bad but nothing can be done except change the doors and plexiglass
still 16 years 'aint bad'
the porche type 4 engine giving 95 hp is also worth considering in the europa
understand that limbach are marketing a fuel injected version giving
about 130hp at 3000 revs. my bog standard engine has done about 1770 hours
and some have gone on to over 4000 not bad eh.

You were correctits a very close tolerance but I think the countersinks are
just short of deep enough.

Have just looked at both Ted Gladstones mod on the support site and Paul McAllisters
interpretation of Jim Nelsons idea. Has anyone in the UK tried Paul / Jims
mod with the PFA yet?

Just caght up with the thread. I have used a wedge of hard rubber as an aid
in holding the parking brake on. Made it out of an old Land Rover mudflap!
worked for me.

With regard to the modification of the door struts. Here at Flight Crafters we
modify all the doors as the system works much better in keeping the rear of the
door from rising above the fuselage. Several modifications have been made
to existing doors that were already proud of the surface and they have returned
to a flush condition. I have to thank Erich Trombley for the idea.

Paul,
Trust the design, It works well. I have no interference. The
reason for flat and round is you cannot use round head screws in both
places.

Tony,
YES YES YES!!!!!! There will be fuel vapor coming out of the
plastic. Jimmy Thursby tried it and got "burned" for the effort. If you
fill the tank completely with water you will stop most of the vapor
problem. Try drilling and filing the hole to get it.

Actually we had the same issue and simply removed some of the grey gell coat
covering the tangs on their undersides. Twas fine after that.
We didn't remove any of the glass though!!

I took care to slightly offset the flat heads' and round heads' location
from each other after one of them hit.

My wife and I have reluctantly concluded that raising a young family and building
a Europa are mutually exclusive at this point in time.
Therefore I am offering my stage one kit for sale. The price is very reasonable,
especially for anyone in New Zealand who may be thinking of purchasing a Europa.
If anyone on this list knows anyone who may be interested, please let me know off
list.
