Hi,
some time ago somebody published a method which can be used to calibrate the
ASI. The method required to fly a triangle in order to eliminate the effects
of wind.
Dumb me, I didn't copy the method at the time, and now I'm unable to find it.
Could sombody point me to the messages?
Thanks in advance!

A few searches on google came up with the information I needed.
I know, I should have done this before posting the message. Sorry.

Ooops, sorry, folks - that was meant to be a private reply and I forgot
Matronics behaves differently to the way I had the old Forum set up...
I guess I've forgotten how to use email too :-(

Phil,
I don't (as you know from our conversation on Wednesday). I just wanted to
apologise for not saying goodbye - I was so focussed on getting away once
I'd got the fuselage loaded, I completely forgot my manners.

What a great days flying today. Went to Kemble what a great place that is
and even better this time with the new restaurant, Its had unbelievable
investment. There was also a impromptu but pre arranged low pass from a B52!
not to mention a quick and a JP as well as just about every other GA
aircraft.
Down side had to queue for 20 mins to depart but who cares.
II always remember a airfield owner telling me that aviation was dead and
there was no point in operating a airfield.
I realised today what a great venue this is going to be for the PFA weekend.

U.S. readers will have noted today's message from Kevin Taylor, lauding the
qualities of Kemble Airfield, and perhaps wondering what that is........
As a guest of several Europa builders in the English West
Country, I was treated to a visit to this large ex-WW II base now being used
by various groups, and enjoying a casual lunch under the tower. It is a
wonderful spot and doubtless deserves to be the future venu for coming
events such as the PFA fly-in.
What American cousins may not appreciate (in spite of the number
of Mum'nPop fields so well spread throughout the States) is that as a fan of
WW II events, I have counted up over 820 airfield and water sites used
1939-1945 in the space slightly less in size than Hudson's Bay. Many of them
are gone to other uses of course.
Thanks Kevin!

Norbert - John J Moran made a posting about this on 17-09-2000 and
others made follow-ups in the next few days. You should be able to
find the messages on Andrew Sarangan's archive (see the Europa Club
website <www.europaclub.org.uk> for a pointer to it).
There are three Excel spreadsheets for doing ASI calibrations with
GPS, all with slightly different approaches, among the goodies in the
"calculations" folder on the Europa Club CD-ROM which is issued free
to all new members .....

Hi Folks,
This might to some seem like a silly idea but I'll throw it out there for
comment.
Whenever I transmit my tacho goes off the scale - obviously an RF issue - it
goes back again when I stop transmitting. I thought about replacing the wires
to the tacho with shielded wires but thought why not simply wrap aluminum
foil/tape around them. I probably wouldn't earth the tape.
Do you think this would do anything to help?

Tim,
I still have not sent those blue ones back that were suppose to be gray. I
guess I should not procrastinate any longer as I see the price has now gone
up. Do I send them to the address below?
Troy

Hello all,
I have presently finished a temporary attachment of both aileron hinges on my
starboard wing. I have also clamped my flap in place with the template on the
wing root. While the flap fits and lines up well with the template and
aileron, the aileron seems too thin and short at the wing tip. Measured at
the corner of the closeout and wingtip, the aileron is 9 mm lower with the
bottom of the aileron is flush. And the trailing edge of the aileron is also
12 mm shorter along the chord than the wingtip.
Is this normal? Do I have to fill in this area? If so, that's a lot of
filler! Or am I missing something?
I am also aware of another builder at this same point that has the same
problem. Is it a problem? I would appreciate some advice from those that have
gone before me.

Troy,
Better still, when you send them back, send a gray sample for the colour
choice.
Cheers,
Tim
