Tufnol quote 3% expansion in the fully water-saturated condition. The point being that if they are set up too "carefully" (i.e. with only a small amount of axial end-play) then they can later go tight. I have bought Airworld Skyflash???< I have this combination and it works fine. It is a good idea to use screened wire between the strobe head and the control box. >I understand that fitting the strobe on the fin is not recommended due to the fact that it can be seen from the cockpit and causes some distraction.< I have not found it a problem. I can just about see it in my peripheral vision when I twist around as much as I can to the left. The comment might be more significant for those who are permitted to fly their Europa at night but this is not allowed with UK registered kitplanes. If you intend (like me) to use a single strobe the top of the fin is the logical place as it is most easily seen from there. Regards Nigel Charles

Subject: Centre Console Twin finger brakes - Tri-gear
    From: Richard Holder <rholder@avnet.co.uk>
--> Europa-List message posted by: Richard Holder <rholder@avnet.co.uk> Team I am pleased to say that the PFA have now approved my twin finger brakes modification, using the original tri-gear master cylinders, built onto a support structure inside the centre console. The levers are extended by bolting the tri-gear foot brake lever (with its curved shape) onto the original "mono' type brake lever. This increases the mechanical advantage - which IS needed ! For reference the mod number is 10786 and is applied to G-OWWW. It is all installed, tested. The flight tests are now done, and the paperwork has passed through the PFA and has arrived at the CAA. I am assured that it will be processed by Tuesday which means that on Wednesday when I get the bit of paper it will be free for me to fly. To give you some idea of the time-delay frustration : the fuselage was painted on the 2nd Jan and it was all ready by the he 10th Jan. It has taken until 2nd April to go through all the hoops which are required. Maybe just a week was lost due to the weather. I just hope it is all worth while. Richard Richard F.W. --> Europa-List message posted by: "david joyce" <davidjoyce@beeb.net> Cliff and Kevin, I can confirm that the SS braided fuel hose (SS002) supplied by Europa for the 914, and with 8mm ID is more than adequate. It produced massive flow rates in the standard test, way more than required and almost enough to run a 747 on. --> Europa-List message posted by: "R.C.Harrison" <ptag.dev@ukonline.co.uk> Hi! Nigel/All/Mike Gregory Club Safety. I understood that there is a pretty exact definition of the visibility of nav.lights and strobes. Like they must be visible from a particular wide range of angle. Whilst the top of the fin is good I understood that it alone doesn't satisfy these regs.? ie:- an aircraft climbing from below on the same heading wouldn't see the fin strobe, this therefore calls for a belly mounted strobe to "close the circle " .? regards Bob Harrison G-PTAG -

There are... but in most countries the definitions would only apply if you intend flying at night. If you are adding a strobe as an optional extra for daylight flying then you are probably free to put them anywhere you want. Havving said that though, there's a pretty good reason why the definitions are as you stated. Tony
