Subject: | Strobe RF interference |
--> Europa-List message posted by: Tim Ward <ward.t@xtra.co.nz>
Hi Europa colleagues,
I have just been testing my Micro 760 VHF with the strobes on and have
some RF interference. I have 2 self contained strobes, one on top of the
fuselage and the other directly below on the bottom just aft of the fuel
vent. (Mono wheel Classic #292)
I have rerouted and shielded the strobe wires through the centre of the
fuselage to avoid the antenna cable which joins on to a Bob Archer
aerial. I shifted the aerial aft 2ft and that have improved it.
Any other suggestions would be welcome. I asked an Avionics man here
about suppressing the power lines to the strobe and he said the best way
to suppress them is to turn them off!!
Cheers,
Tim

Greetings All,
I recently enjoyed reading Ken Paser's "Economy with Speed".
It is essentially a study of the effects of applying 30-70 year old known
aeronautical design best practices (from NACA reports) to the improvement
of a modern homebuilt. The results is a much awarded and honored
Busby Mustang 20 or 30 mph faster than others of its design.
One technique involves canting the muffler discharge into the axis of
flight to both mitigate the drag of the exhaust plume and simultaneously
gain a small amount of thrust.
Has anyone experimented with the Europa's exhaust? Best angle, etc?
I know you donj't want to go straight back to avoid melting or staining the
fuselage.
Andy? Neville? Graham?

Hi,Dale
are you now in the Vancouver area? If so, give me a call, (604)589-0653.
I live in Surrey and so far my monowheel Classic is the only Europa flying
in this area. My friend Paul Peregrym is completing his XS mono at his home
in Aldergrove near Abbotsford and we could possibly arrange a meeting with
him as well. Give me a call and we can go for a flight.

Many Thanks for a good job done!

Just to give me some idea (and accepting the fact that the clearance ribs to panel
will vary kit to kit) - what is the average amount of redux/flox mix needed
to stick the top panel to the xs wing?
Anyone remember how much he used for this?
Thanks

Mike,
I seem to recall I took 450 grams, but it was a while ago and I can't be
sure. I documented what I did at http://europa363.versadev.com/dec-99.html
Regards, Paul
