If you have any drawings and directions, please include in the pile of stuff. I finally got out yesterday and got an hour in. The wx had been ucky here in mid Florida. For the last month, its been rain and thunderstorms all around the area. The problem with the Europa is it goes so far so fast. Need a big area to just putt around. Yesterday, I throttled back to try to keep it around 110 Knots. only needed about 4700 rpm. No sweat getting 120K to 125K (around 5300 rpm) I see 130K and up when I use around 5400 - 5500 rpm. (all below 3000') So I guess its a fine cross country bird! Are you getting close? Don't rush but its time to get it done. My last 6 - 8 months, I spent more time getting the bumps out and ready to paint and then paint. Then its refit and get the blessings of the gov. to go fly. It is all worth it. It is a fun airplane to fly. I'm still doodling with the trim on my starboard wing. I have had to add a trim tab in addition to my electric tab. Make sure you have a large enough tab if you are putting in an electric operated tab. I now recommend at least 8" wide or more. (maybe 10") This will allow for trimming with out having to extend the tab so far it looks -- like, well you know--. --> Europa-List message posted by: James Nelson <europajim@juno.com> Hi guys, This problem exists on all airframes (that I've seen). Just get out your "Super Fill" and match the parts. Just be sure to include a layer of bid approximately every 3/16" (3 - 4 mm) or so. The glass is necessary as the super fil doesn't have any strength when put it on that thick. I had to do the leading edge of the tail planes and re-form the top of both of my protrusions to match the tail planes. No big deal, just time consuming. My moldings don't match on the bottom but no one looks there when looking over the plane. I did the lower section just to blend it in. Where does all of > the excess go? > Both Throttle and Choke cables need to be shortened fairly significantly. It is possible to extract outer sheath from the nipple on end of sheath at Carburettor end and then cut to suit. The nipple can be 'firmly' pushed back on to the out sheath when length correct. Cutting the inner cable needs care and a very sharp cutting device. There are special cutters for this purpose. Not sure of cost. Bing inner cable in tape and cut with Dremel cutting disc works well as per Rudder cables earlier in the adventure! The difference in 'action' between making them fit using supplied length to modifying to suitable length is very noticeable. Routing can also be varied to meet objective of smooth operation. --> Europa-List message posted by: Davidghillam@aol.com Hi, I agree, they come far too long. I routed mine in what I thought was a gentle curve to use up the surplus, but when I came to flying, it was difficult to get consistent idle rpm or smooth accurate adjustment at low revs. I then re-routed the cables with bigger diameter curves and everything OK now. A better fix would be to shorten the cables. Perhaps someone knows the best way of doing it? Can it be done without removing the cables from the throttle box? Thats the process I used and it was fine. Just dont be tempted to cut inner cable until after it's secured through Lever clamp. It sometimes frays if not cut sharply. --> Europa-List message posted by: "Paul McAllister" <paul.mcallister@qia.net> Hi All, This would be a question for the factory if it wasn't a weekend. The engine manual does not give much indication as to how the cable is fastened to the carburetor. I have tried clamping it under the flat washers, however this does not allow the cable to pivot as the carburetor arm rotates from open to closed. This causes the cable to bend a bit in the closed position. Am I missing something here ? Paul

It's a Allen Bolt M5 X 12, Rotax part No. 241-846. It has a hole to allow throttle cable through and is attached and clamped with Washer and Stiff nut. Should be in Kit somewhere. --> Europa-List message posted by: Davidghillam@aol.com Hi, The inner throttle cable passes through a small hole in the cylindrical fitting and free rotation is permitted. From memory, it is not compressed between washers. The inner is a very tight fit in the hole, hence the need to ensure it is not damaged before you try to thread it through. One loose strand of wire makes it almost impossible to get in (I've got the tee-shirt to prove it!). If you decide to cut the inner, I suspect it would be a good idea to solder it first at the place to be cut. David G-SHSH

The cable is inserted into the cylinder unit and the cable is fastened in position by way of a screw that "jams" the cable and holds it there. It is the correct method.
