For those of you who have joined the list within the last year and a half
or so I figured I will bring this up again for the new guys since I just
had to deal with it. The NACA ducts supplied by Europa aren't worth the
price of the plastic baggie they come packaged in. Do not install them as
you recieve them! Here's the routine: Perform operational check of the
opening/closing widgit knob once or twice, good, now its broken so you
don't have to worry about it any more. If not push on something so a seam
or joint detaches. Now you don't have to worry about it happening after you
spent the time to bond it in.
Recovery:
Pull the stud off of the moveable door and bond it back in, in the open
position. Make some nice white dry micro fillets along the 2 sides down
the throat for good airflow. Get a block blue foam, a saw, and a sanding
block and a small piece of 1/8" ply and make a form to fab a housing to
attach one of those eyeball vent gaspers to direct and close off your fresh
air.
I believe that's that's the SOP if I left anything out the older timers can
comment as necessary.

Steve,
Check out Aircraft Spruce's "Ultimate Ventilators". I put a set in my
Citabria and they are great! I'm planning a set for my Europa. A bit pricey, but
they
provide excellent ventilation.

I strongly agree with John Lawton. I installed the "Ultimate
Ventilators" two weeks ago, and absolutely love them! I installed mine,
one on each side, in the lower, aft most corners of the windscreen. I
can adjust the flow to blow right on my face which is refreshing in the
Florida sun

Hi All,
Well, I got all excited, purchased a kit, planned to complete it in
a hurry - and - CHANGES. My business has boomed - I simply have no
time. Will have to stick with Cessna. So I've got Kit # A196 for sale
- $22,000. Full monowheel kit, fast build options, long range fuel tank
& speed kit. No work done except all steel parts are Cadmium plated.
Wings still shrink-wrapped. Located in Medford, Oregon. E-mail is
best: rmkhomes@charter.net or call 541-899-4041.

Hi Paul,
Do cut the cables back to an appropriate length, re-using the fitting in the outers
at the carb
end. Cut the ends of the inner (carb end) with a dremel wheel after first soldering
at the place
to be cut, to prevent frayed ends.
We had the throttle cables get very 'sticky' just before first flight. No amount
of lube would
make it better. We took the outer part of the cable to the local bike shop and
got a replacement
outer, which lasted about 150 hours. We then got another outer, teflon lined this
time, which
will hopefully last longer.
regards,
Terry Seaver

Each to their own, but one of the many reasons I used to fly a PA28 rather
than a 152 or 172 was that it had a proper quadrant throttle. The push-pull
thing in Cessnas is so crude. The Europa throttle is much more
sophisticated.
Of course the Cessna has its wings in the wrong place too !

Tony,
I guess you are using an XS sternpost and you are a Classic?
The recesses are probably for the top rib of the XS rudder. Suggest you
just grind them away and repair with a couple of plies of BID.

Tony,
GraSing has described my state, and I did just that. It works
quite well.
