Today I received a suspicious email in several of my emailboxes subjectline
"movie".
Just to be sure I updated my virusscanner before attempting to open it
(attachment was titled "your details").
As I suspected it was a virus (virus name W32/Sobig.e@MM)
I noticed the same message on my incoming matronics europa mail however the
attachment had been removed (no doubt matronics automatically scans for
viruses)

Gidday,
I seem to have misplaced my instructions and was wondering if someone could
remind me how to calibrate it. It shouldn't be hard, just press the
Calibrate button, press hold, turn it through 180 degrees, press Calibrate,
then press Hold, and that should be that. Well I think I have forgotten a
step or two, or maybe added one with the hold button. Suffice to say, I
need a brain awakener. Standing by....................................

Hi! Tony.
I've lent my unit out but I'll be surprised if the method isn't printed on
the side of the unit?

Now it mightn't have been to Smart to ask a question about a SmartTool with
court jesters lurking.............but I have looked to see if there are any
instructions "On" the level. I used to keep the instructions buried within the
level, in the battery compartment, but I must have been remiss at returning
them after use. Its not such a big deal, simply I am wondering at what point it
is appropriate to move the level after it displays "Calibrate 1". It flashes
the whole time until you repress calibrate, which is a bit incongruous if it is
taking a reading. One might choose to think that it would stop flashing once it
had made its first registering of the level. I have left my guard down to be
asking questions about a SmartTool.........maybe there is a message there ;-)

Gidday,
I too would like to congratulate Bob. As for this Prince P prop, never
heard of it until today, but my superficial searching makes me believe that
it may be a fixed pitch. Is this so??? If anyone knows of a good website to
have a look at this prop I'd be really interested in getting it. Surprising
these days for someone to "not go Airmaster", but maybe the blades could go
into an Aimaster hub.
In anticipation.

Tony,
Here you go, per the manual.
Place level on flat surface. Wait 10 seconds. Push and hold the Calibrate
button for 2 seconds, CAL1 will appear on the display. Rotate end for end.
Wait 10 seconds. Push Cal button again, Cal2 will appear. You are done.

It flashes to say it has taken a reading and is patiently waiting for you to
offer it the next one...
A wee tip: it doesn't work with all the 'other label' ones SmartTool do
(e.g. Bosch), but if you don't rotate through 180 degrees it allows you to
'tare' the level to the surface you are working on (provided it is within 5
degrees of true horizontal or vertical).
A word for anyone in the UK wanting one: the cheapest source by far is Harry
Hopkins at Gloster Air Parts. He's also very useful for numbered drills and
AN fittings.

Subject: | Re: Throttle Cables |
--> Europa-List message posted by: "Carl & Dot" <carl_p@ntlworld.com>
This subject is probably now yesterdays news but we had a lot of problems
with kinked cables before I found out the problem. Unfortunately if the
outer sleeves are not routed right, the cable in the throttle box kinks and
thats the end of it (ie: the cable has to be replaced). This is in my
opinion a major weakness of this particular design. The first 6 inches of the
cables should be rigid and not flexible as in the current setup.
We found the supplied cable sleeves (including the replacements) to be too
long for our installation. This simply results in an unacceptable number of
bends and the inevitable jamming and kinking of the inner cable.
Our best solution was to cut through the cable sleeves about 1 inch from the
carburettor ends and to cut out a portion of the outer sleeving. The
remaining ends are then joined back together by gluing them inside a short
alumiinum tubing sleeve (as found in model shops - brass would be ok too).
An added advantage is that without the screw ends to get in the way, the
cable outers can easily be passed from the tunnell end through the narrow
gap between the undercarriage frame and the top of the tunnel. We found this
nearly impossible with the screw ends attached (NB they cannot be removed at
the cable ends).
It is essential that the cables are routed in a very lazy S shape with no
tight bends whatsoever (ie: straight out from throttle box, bending gently
outwards & upwards, passing through top of tunnel then back inwards past the
carb filters to the carb attachment points). We used some strategically
shaped tiewraps at the engine compartment ends to keep the cable paths
exactly as we wanted them. Ours have to route outboard of the rotax filters
but this will be different if a plenum box is fitted.
Having replaced two cables even before our first flight had always been a
worry and we always look and check inside the throttle box as part of our
pre start up checks to make sure there is no sign of kinking.
However after 6 months flying and no problems to date we are confident we
have got things right. Of course the occasional squirt of light oil helps
too.
Hopefully this hasnt confused too much.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the pix. Is the operation a 180' turn of the knob for fully open?
Does this turn the moving plate 180' from it's closed postion? Where did/are

As of yesterday, our eCharts division has a new address. It is now a part
of our newest on-line catalog www.PilotsBooks.com
Go to PilotsBooks, click on CHARTS on the left and a new page will come up
allowing you to navigate between Sectionals, WACs, TACs, Facility
directories, wall charts, and all IFR enroute charts and terminal plates.
All else is exactly the same as before.
This is not an ownership change. Just an internal consolidation of 2
related sites.
Our company now has 3 basic divisions:
Builder's Bookstore - for the custom aircraft builder
Aircraft Technical Books - for the student and professional mechanic
PilotsBooks - for aircraft owners and pilots
...plus our 2 partnered sites KitPlanes Books and AMT Books
as someone in the movies said "the trilogy is now complete"
