--> Europa-List message posted by: "R.C.Harrison" <ptag.dev@ukonline.co.uk> Hi! David. So why didn't you come to the Elvington Event at the Yorkshire Air Museum on Sunday 6th July. when I was there and only 4 private aircraft had flown in to attend! There was a host of celebrations going on with a large public attendance. A museum well worth a trip. No one in attendance at the airfield so a freebie ! regards Bob Harrison G-PTAG -----Original Message----- From: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com]On Behalf Of david.corbett Subject: Europa-List: 150th Anniversary --> Europa-List message posted by: "david.corbett" <david.corbett@fwi.co.uk> About 2 weeks ago there were some messages posted on this forum about Sir George Caley's glider, and reference to the intended flight of a replica. I am now able to update you all about the actual event, which was witnessed by two of my friends, both PPL's of much experience who live close to the late Sir George's home, Brompton Dale, near Scarborough, North Yorkshire; a descendant of Sir George still lives in the house. It was decided that the original 1853 glider, which is housed in the Museum at Elvington airfield, Yorkshire, could not be taken out for this anniversary. British Aerospace agreed to make a replica in their factory at Brough, and this was completed on time. (Brough is the home of BAE Hawk manufacture).

David. | So why didn't you come to the Elvington Event at the Yorkshire Air Museum on | Sunday 6th July. | when I was there and only 4 private aircraft had flown in to attend! There | was a host of celebrations going on with a large public attendance. A museum | well worth a trip. | No one in attendance at the airfield so a freebie ! | regards | Bob Harrison G-PTAG Now, Robert, Perhaps David didn't go because he had previous commitments. I didn't go either. The reason may have been that there was insufficient warning (The US preps have been underway for 2-1/2 years), or that it was not really an anniversary (I believe the original event occurred in December?), or that the US is celebrating sustained powered flight, rather than gliding downhill. It may be passing strange that the whole event was a scheme of a certain millionaire to advertise his airline (curiously available for a flypast at season's peak), and his 'flamboyant style' (read pompous hype). Real aviators don't wear fake beards (unless it's a scam, like Granny's solo). I'd like to read the full text of the Wright brothers' testimonial to Cayley's pioneering, rather than join a circus. Mind you, .......got to give the snakeoil salesman his due. Cheers, Ferg

Have you looked at "Lectric Bobs" over voltage unit and how its wired ? Fortunately, I use my 40A system and use B&C 's voltage regulator which has a built in OV unit and my regulator will shut off the field voltage. Come on Fred, lets get yours in the air!!! Your are getting close aren't you?? Jim Nelson

Subject: Vacuum lines on 914 engine
--> Europa-List message posted by: DJA727@aol.com Does anybody have a good source for a replacement of the small vacuum hoses on the fuel pressure regulator on the 914 engine? I had a problem with one of those and have doubts about the quality of the hoses themselves. I am tempted to go with tygon. The hoses can both leak and pinch, causing problems. Thanks, Dave A227 mini U2 - 65 hoursTT

--> Europa-List message posted by: "Robert Berube" <bberube@tampabay.rr.com> Hi Nev, Wish I could have the time flown off but it looks like I will have to miss Oshkosh again this year. Jeanne and I had planned on taking a couple of weeks and taking a flying trip with a stop at the big show. It is just not working out with my work and Jeanne's as well. I will plan on picking you up when you arrive in Tampa. Here is my cell phone number in case I am running late or something. 695-1120. I hope we have a chance to get together while your here. Perhaps Lee can get you up in N166BB. I haven't had a chance to get my medical so I am not flying yet. Lee Omernik was the test pilot for the first flight which lasted approx. 20 minutes in 93F degree temps. Engine temps stayed in the green even after a 15 minute taxi. Squawks were a slightly erratic FlyDat and fuel odor.
