--> Europa-List message posted by: "nigel charles" <nigelcharles@tiscali.co.uk> >"The parking brake valve provides a means of retaining hydraulic pressure in the lines between each wheel brake calliper and the valve. When the park brake is set to "on" a check valve allows further pressure to be applied by pulling on the brake levers." The factory kit has the valve orientated with the flow from the finger brake cylinders to the larger flat face of the valve and then out to the wheels via the two ports on the smaller face. I interpret the factory instructions as describing this as a one way valve that is selectable in or out (of the system) rather than a on/off system.< Hi Simon You are probably right unless they have changed the specification in the last few years. I bought mine direct from Wicks about 6 years ago. It didn't come with any instructions and listed it as just a valve so I assumed that was its only function. I will check mine the next time I fly. It will be useful to select the brake before applying the pressure. It is still important to make sure it is off before landing as if too much brake is applied nose over or groundlooping could occur because pressure could not be released quickly enough. Nigel

--> Europa-List message posted by: "Brian and Pat Tarmar" <freefolk@screaming.net> Having agonised long and hard over three years, I have finally decided to give-up my option on Wilksch Diesel WAM-120 No.23 which will be available very soon. Now that my Classic Trike airframe is at last finished and all parts weighed, I feel that the potential reduction in payload precludes use of the diesel at this stage. However, if there is anyone out there interested in almost immediate delivery and the original price of =A310,000 please get in touch. Only today Wilksch achieved UK approval for the WAM 120 at 120bhp and the fuel burn continues to improve. Regards Brian Tarmar G-OBJT (Rotax 912S!!!!)

--> Europa-List message posted by: "paul stewart" <paul-d.stewart@virgin.net> Attaching the engine mount to the engine (914), am I correct in thinking you cannot tighten the M10 bolts/ binx nuts to a particular torque - the nuts being a type of stiff nut. Quite anxious to get this correct particularly as access to the nuts is not easy. While attaching the engine to landing gear frame any thoughts on safe ways to support the engine while positioning etc. - I dont want to be holding it up by bits I should not. --> Europa-List message posted by: Jeff Roberts <jeff@rmmm.net> This is one of those things that continues to bother me. There is one bolt and stiff nut on the bellcrank that is not viewable from the access panel as the W-12 plate is in the way. Its the one from the lateral push rod that goes through the rod end and into the W-13 plate or arm. I only realized this after I closed out the wings. The stiff nut cannot be seen from the bottom of the wing. Is this something I dont ever need to worry about or will I be using a mirror type tool that I dont know about to inspect it? If so, how would you tighten it or maintain it later? Thanks in advance, Jeff Tri Gear A258

Use an engine hoist with strops around the exhaust manifolds. I needed to mount the engine around six times before getting the offset correct in both dimensions. A set of squeeze clamps to pre tension the lord mount rubbers will make life easier when fitting the engine to the frame. Tony

I just looped a web strap under one then the other and doubled it back and tied the ends together. My lifting motor hoist hook then gathered up all the strap and the thing balanced just right. Subject: Official Usage Guideline [Please Read] [Monthly Posting]
--> Europa-List message posted by: dralle@matronics.com (Matt Dralle) ****************************************************************************** Europa-List Usage Guidelines ****************************************************************************** The following details the official Usage Guidelines for the Europa-List. You are encouraged to read it carefully, and to abide by the rules therein. Failure to use the Europa-List in the manner described below may result in the removal of the subscribers from the List. Europa-List Policy Statement The purpose of the Europa-List is to provide a forum of discussion for things related to this particular discussion group. The List's goals are to serve as an information resource to its members; to deliver high-quality content; to provide moral support; to foster camaraderie among its members; and to support safe operation. Reaching these goals requires the participation and cooperation of each and every member of the List. To this end, the following guidelines have been established: - Please keep all posts related to the List at some level. Do not submit posts concerning computer viruses, urban legends, random humor, long lost buddies' phone numbers, etc. etc. - THINK carefully before you write. Ask yourself if your post will be relevant to everyone. If you have to wonder about that, DON'T send it. - Remember that your post will be included for posterity in an archive that is growing in size at an extraordinary rate. Try to be concise and terse in your posts. Avoid overly wordy and lengthy posts and responses. - Keep your signature brief. Please include your name, email address, aircraft type/tail number, and geographic location. A short line about where you are in the building process is also nice. Avoid bulky signatures with character graphics; they consume unnecessary space in the archive. - DON'T post requests to the List for information when that info is easily obtainable from other widely available sources. Consult the web page or FAQ first. - If you want to respond to a post, DO keep the "Subject:" line of your response the same as that of the original post. This makes it easy to find threads in the archive. - When responding, NEVER quote the *entire* original post in your response. DO use lines from the original post to help "tune in" the reader to the topic at hand, but be selective. The impact that quoting the entire original post has on the size of the archive can not be overstated! - When the poster asks you to respond to him/her personally, DO NOT then go ahead and reply to the List. Be aware that clicking the "reply" button on your mail package does not necessarily send your response to the original poster. You might have to actively address your response with the original poster's email address. - DO NOT use the List to respond to a post unless you have something to add that is relevant and has a broad appeal. "Way to go!", "I agree", and "Congratulations" are all responses that are better sent to the original poster directly, rather than to the List at large. - When responding to others' posts, avoid the feeling that you need to comment on every last point in their posts, unless you can truly contribute something valuable. - Feel free to disagree with other viewpoints, BUT keep your tone polite and respectful. Don't make snide comments, personally attack other listers, or take the moral high ground on an obviously controversial issue. This will only cause a pointless debate that will hurt feelings, waste bandwidth and resolve nothing. -------
