It may be that those | people currently having problems with the invisible peel-ply just bought | their wing kits about the same time. When the problem works itself through | the system it may be that all wings come with the highly visible green | peel-ply. | | For those of us that built our wings the hard way, the original wing kit | came with blue peel-ply - lots of it!! Later on, I found that I needed some | more and I bought several rolls from Aircraft Spruce, the peel-ply that | came from AS was indeed white and transparent when applied and had no red | stripe at all. However, in my opinion, the white AS peel-ply was streets | better than the original Europa supplied blue stuff. The green P-P is fine | but I still prefer the Aircraft Spruce P-P. The green is of slightly | lighter grade and does not produce such a good job if used with any folds | still in it - it needs to ironed for best results I understand. | | The components of the kit are not actually made at the Europa Factory - | unless there is a secret underground skunk works in existence. As I | understand it, the major glass fibre components are sub-contracted out to a | professional aircraft manufacturer. Maybe they will get round to green | peel-ply eventually - maybe not. | | I think it is a little unfair to be so quick to criticise the factory - when | lead times for these major components are probably quite long. I think that | the guys at Europa react very quickly and appropriately when the need arises | and they are always actively engaged in improving the product whether the | aircraft is flying or still under construction. | | I must agree with Jos - if the instructions say 'remove the peel-ply' and | you don't, they the fault lies much closer than Kirbymoorside. | | As a young pilot, we where always told by our instructor to "RTFQ", meaning | 'Read The F****** Question'. Perhaps this is a case of "RTFI" - meaning | 'Read the Instructions'. | | regards, | | Mike

Both Mitchell, and UMA make electronic tachometers with a time readout. Mitchell also makes a 2 1/4" mechanical recording tach for the Rotax 912 / 914. Hope this helps. John Hurst Europa Aircraft

--> Europa-List message posted by: "paul stewart" <paul-d.stewart@virgin.net> Given that the manual give the option of mounting the oil cooler 2" lower to improve oil cooling and my understanding is that cooling can be an issue with the 914, have folk fitted their oil coolers flush against the cooling duct or the optional lower position? Also the manual has picures of nice looking SS braided oil hose attached to the oil tank not the black rubber stuff supplied with enginse and FWF kit. I seem to remember threads about oil hoses can anyone enlighten me? Regards Paul #432

You'll need to change the angled fitting on the radiator for a straight one, orderable from Europa, and open up the hole in the support a bit. It'll also help if you use some baffle to seal off the sides of the radiators so the air flows through them and not around them. >> Also the manual has picures of nice looking SS braided oil hose attached to the oil tank not the black rubber stuff supplied with enginse and FWF kit. I seem to remember threads about oil hoses can anyone enlighten me? I used high temp racing hose rather than the black stuff and covered it with firesleeve where it passes close to the engine. Tony

--> Europa-List message posted by: "Bill & Sue Sisley" <bill.sue@zip.co.nz> I mounted mine as per the manual, in line. Initially I had overheating on the ground only. I have now made a filler on the bottom cowl to give a smooth passage of air into the radiators and continuing out the back to the rear edge of the bottom of the cowl. This has made a major difference and now I have the reverse problem of not hot enough. Thinking about Nav lights, I've made a few preliminary wing tip light covers. Paul McA has fitted them, I haven't yet spent enough time learning how to set up a web site, time seems to go faster for some reason?!? If anyone wants to see the results email me directly and I will send some pictures. Graham --- == == == ==

--> Europa-List message posted by: <kbcarpenter@comcast.net> I moved my oil radiator down to the cowl surface. I also closed off about half of the opening under the water radiator. This forces most of the air through the water radiator first. That has helped a lot but climb needs to be at airspeed of 110 MPH to keep everything cool. I used Teflon hose from the lower crankcase banjo fitting to the oil tank.(also hose from turbo pump outlet to oil tank). The hose is covered with woven stainless steel cover. The other hoses around the engine have fire sleeve. Ken Carpenter ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tony S. For instance when doing conditional, or if there is a problem. I have two 750 lb pump jacks with platforms that works well to lift Cozy 3 from the wings. I was kinda sortta thinking lifting under spar by double ribs with a piece of dense foam under wings. Thx. Ron Parigoris Monowheel A265
