Ferg,
Not sure what you are trying to do, are you Teeing off from a 3/8 line or
connecting to an end of a 3/8 line? which ever way, you will require an
assortment of AN fittings.
For Teeing off:- 1 x AN825-6D, 2 x AN818-6D, 2 x An819-6D, 1 x AN910-2D, 1 x
AN912-1D and 1 x AN840-4D.
End of line:- 1 x AN818-6D, 1 x 819-6D, 1 x 816-6-2D,1 x AN910-1D and 1 x
AN840-4D.
The parts from Aircraft Spruce Cat, this was the only way I could figure out
to do it given the parts in the Catalog.

Hi! Tom
IMHO to have a trailer which is too light is quite likely to cause some
damage to the aircraft. (Depends what your roads are like but the last thing
you want is the trailer bouncing because the "tie downs" are just as likely
to
cause damage as the bounce .
I accept you don't need it to be as heavy as my double suspension linked
axled, covered trailer ( about 3 tonnes loaded!) but it certainly glides
over
the most horrible surfaces WITHOUT ANY WING OR STOWED TAILPLANE TIE DOWNS.
I've probably towed the aircraft about 3,000 miles to date with no adverse
effects.
Look at it on http://www.crix.org.uk
OK it could be constructed in aluminium and the cladding could be lighter
gauge material but my a/c is secure, weather, vandal, and fire proof.
Ok I use a 940 TD Volvo Estate and have been up to 80MPH but no one asks
any questions unless it's over a speed limit anywhere then I'll be for the
high jump! Suggest you up grade the tow vehicle .... put it down to
insurance.!

Is that the same pipe as the factory supplies for the sight gauge? If so,
what about their brass fitting for attaching it to the tank outlet fitting,
plus an AN894?

You might try browsing through this online catalogue
http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~lfracing/home.htm - I have used them for all my
aluminium fittings including those points where I have had to join ally to
flexible (914 fuel pumps). The selection is extensive - they are also very
knowlegable when I've spoken to them on the 'phone. It took me a while to
realise that JIC and AN are the same thing!

Subject: | Wing Root Fairings |
--> Europa-List message posted by: "Jim Butcher" <europa@triton.net>
Kevin, We just finished this job. We found we had to slit the fairings to get
them to fit at all closely. Then we had to heat the curved portions to finalize
the fit to the fuselage. We rigged the wings & measured from the outboard
edge of the fairing to the fuselage side (diagonal measurement) to see how much
"adjustment" was needed. We did this at multiple locations - about every 3
inches in the worst areas. We then derigged the wings and heated small areas
- about 6 inches with a heat gun on high and used a piece of 2x4 to push the
fairing a bit more than required since it will spring back. Then measured and
did it again if necessary. Took a couple of hours to do both wings but they
look good now.
By the way, if you have to slit the fairings, Nev suggests a single layer of bid
that overlaps the slits and onto the wing about an inch. That worked well too.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I am now in the process of installing nav lights for night flight. Whelen
sells nav lights for external mounting for a mere $90 each! I saw that aeroflash
has nav lights for about $50, but I'll be darned if I can find the source
where I saw that. I am trying to avoid breaking the bank to install a couple of
simple light sockets behind the Plexiglas covers in the wing tips.
Anybody out there know of a good source for nav lights without increasing the
national debt?
Thanks,
Dave

Karl - I know nothing about John's trailer apart from the pictures,
but I'd be interested to see long-term tyre consumption figures for
it - I think the long wheelbase between the axles will cause a lot of
scrubbing. I can see that they are spaced wide apart to leave room
for the tri-gear main legs & wheels, but it's not obvious from the
pictures how the aircraft departs the trailer, as the rear wheels &
mudguards appear to be in the way of a straightforward roll-off.

Frank - I assume you didn't fetch it from New Zealand! I think you
have got the one of Norman's Europas that was officially recorded as
kit 219, not A026.
The FAA recorded the registration of a "Setzer Europa" in 1997 03 as
N13NM but the choice of registration mark was clearly for Norman
Marsh. On 1998 04 29 I spoke with Norman and he reported that kit 219
had flown as N13NM "about a month ago"; it looks like kit numbers got
crossed somewhere between the owner and the guy who filed the
paperwork with the FAA. As far as I know, Robert Setzer worked on
both of the aeroplanes for Norman so if he had both in the shop
together, maybe he picked up the wrong papers the day he went to the
FAA office! The aircraft which the FAA knows as constructor's number
A026 definitely went to NZ, and the FAA cancelled its registration in
2000 03. The New Zealand register also shows ZK-NWM as c/n A026, so
irrespective of what was written on the big box from Europa, I think
we have to accept that. Clearly kit number 219 was issued well before
the Florida Europa office was issuing kit numbers with an "A" prefix
to North American customers, so I agree it would have made sense for
that kit to have flown first, and no doubt Norman expected the first
one flying to be 219.
ZK-NWM was bought by Peter Lyons in 2002 09, shortly after Norman's
death, and as far as I know he is still the owner in New Zealand. (I
just spotted that I haven't got that info correct on the website -
I'll fix it at the next upload.)
I find no record of kit 219 having been registered with the FAA or
anyone else, so presumably it has not flown yet, and that would line
up with your remark:
>I may even have to
>trailer the aircraft down to Lakeland in Florida ,when I get it completed
I certainly think that Bob Setzer would be the person to contact
about any missing paperwork, and perhaps he could also remember more
about the whole 219/A026 confusion! I don't have contact info for
him, but no doubt some of the folk in Florida can put you in touch.
Hope the rest of the world is not getting too bored with this - but
if Peter Lyons or Bob Setzer are listening, maybe they can toss in
their thoughts?
regards
Rowland

I saw a guy with an RV who took his Plexiglas covers and had then dyed to
the correct colours with some type of Nylon dye. He then simply put
automotive bulbs behind them and it worked great.
I am going todo a similar variation, I am going to build my lights with
LED's and have my wing tip lenses dyed the correct colour. The LED's are
part of my attempt to try and get by on the single rotax alternator. Time
will tell how successful I will be.
Cheers, Paul

Paul,
The route you're going with LED's sounds intriging; assume that you'll be
using an LED in that slick little rudder-tail light you've designed. Tech
data on the LED specs would be invaluable to the electrically-challenged
amonst us (including me!).
Can I assume that strobes are out of the question given the limitations on
the Rotax alternator?
