>Does anyone that is flying have any views regarding the fitment of stall
strips. We were initially advised that these were a bad idea and that an
electric stall warner was a better option. From what I remember, stall
strips are supposed to have an adverse effect on the landing characteristics
of the aircraft.<
Whilst stall strips improve warning of an impending stall, if fitted in a
position where they do that job, they can also raise the stall speed (by
5kts in some cases) which
rather negates the benefit. Stall warners do not degrade the aerodynamics
and can easily be set to give a warning at any desired speed/AOA.

Bosch 0 344 101 055 oil pressure switch (0,05-0,15 bar) price approx
25,-<
With Klaus' help I have also used this switch with my parallel fuel system.
The setting of this switch is non adjustable but proved to be just right.
The previous adjustable switch I used was very difficult to set up correctly
as it would sometimes operate at too high a pressure or not operate at all.

David,
Hope to join you. Iffy at the moment as the aircraft is in dock. Will only
know for certain after Monday (possibly) when the repair has been completed.

There were two other events I read about envolving lightning strikes on
composite aircraft recently. One, a Lanceair broke apart in flight after an
apparent lightning strike killing all 4 on board. Another involved a glider, an
ASW

pilot/instructor and student parachuted out safely. Kinda makes you wonder about
using conductive fuel lines in a "plastic" airplane, doesn't it?

Hello everyone,
I will be heading down to Kitty Hawk, NC tomorrow for the reenactment
of the first flight. The Wrights were the first home builders and I will be thinking
about all of you that are building your own. I think this is a international celebration
because so many people have contributed to the advancement of aviation.
If you are not aware the EAA will have coverage on the internet at
www.eaa.org.
Good flying and building,

Hello all,
Anyone out there that do the first flight of a newly built experimental? When
you do this flight do you wear a parachute?
Or, people that do acrobatics. Since, in the USA, you are supposed to have a
parachute on while doing acro, what type of chute do you wear? How well does
it fit into the Europa? Is it a snug fit for the pilot on the days they want to
do acro legally?
Just a few questions to satisfy the wife/coplilot when she asks.

Rowland,
Turbin, smurbin, what do you expect from a bureaucracy like the
FAA. I really have an early 912 S pulling my fine airframe around in the
Florida air. Other than the weird starting requirements (all dependant
on temp's) it runs real nice. I do highly recommend the heated collars
for the carburetors to keep the ole carb ice monster away.

smells of gas)

Just to reassure those who have been trying to get into the
members-only section of the Europa Club website (which is for paid-up
Europa Club members only) that your Committee is taking steps to
resolve the problem. We will be leaving Aviators Network (where the
Club website has been hosted since 1995), but will retain the
(now-familiar, we hope) URL of <http://www.europaclub.org.uk>. We
hope to be able to open for business on a new host soon, and will
announce on this list when things are working again. In the interim,
please note that the Europa Club Committee e-mail addresses (such as
that shown in my signature) will bounce until we are re-established.
If you need to contact me, use <europa-club@rowil.clara.net> in the
meantime.
Thanks for all your patience.
regards
Rowland

| Hello everyone,
| I will be heading down to Kitty Hawk, NC tomorrow for the reenactment

first home builders....
......I don't think so. That would make the hundred or so pilots before them
commercial purchasers. Let's keep things in perspective. The Wrights were
profound and intuitive fliers and builders, just not the first. Let's
celebrate what happened - an exciting and productive event. Even they gave
credit to predecessors. It's in the book.

Godspeed, John, and take a few pictures! Credit goes to a
country that provided the freedom and circumstances to permit such events.

Stall strips do have one advantage - a physical warning through the stick is
far more effective and reliable at getting the pilot's attention than either
a horn or a light - which is why all large commercial and military aircraft
are fitted with a stick shaker.

So i just randomly browsed to the europa club website on a friends computer and
discovered that those pluses (+) in the sidebar open additional options :)
It seems that the EuropaClub website doesnt work in non-IE browsers...
unfortunately, i dont get to use IE in my main PC (linux), and i choose not to
on my laptop (mac)...
Please please please fix this... before i cough up the money for a membership,
mention that its VERY bad form to have a community site that doesnt follow
established standards, effectively keeping part of the community from using it.
ok, off my soapbox...

p.s. sorry about the rant, just had a rather annoying experience with SprintPCS
