The manual talks about microfilling the gap at the rib joint area. Then later to flox fill the trough of the rib. I am a bit lost here, what are the right places to put micro and flox here? It appears that a suitable point would be to fit the ball link to one of the hinge arms (FL16), drilling the small diameter hole for it in the centre line of the hinge arm as close as possible to the fuselage floor. This should give the desired 90 degree rotation of the sensor. - Other suggestions? Seasons Greetings to all. Installed for 2 years but still not working yet! (can't get audio to work correctly). From: Jeff Roberts --> Europa-List message posted by: Jeff Roberts I Just hung the engine yesterday and used 2 of the AN960-516 washers in the starboard side mounts to achieve the required 1.5 degrees offset. The plans call for at least 4 washers under each bolt. If I did this I wouldnt have room to screw the nut on. Then it asks us to place any remaining washers immediately under the nut. Once again if I did this I wouldnt have room to get the nut on. All the MTO4 rubber mounts have been fully compressed onto the spacers. Am I missing something here or perhaps the four AN5-41 mounting bolts I ordered through ACS were shorter than the original ones that Europa uses. Any way the engine is on and its setting at the 1.5 degree offset. The holes for the split pin appear to be just perfect with respect to the castellated nut and I only used 2 washers between the starboard landing gear frame and the cup washer. For those that have gone before, am I OK here? Thanks in advance! Jeff Tri gear A258 PS. For those that inquired, the firewall-insulating mat sold through Wicks at $6.33 per foot worked well and it only took 8 feet of the 24" wide sheet. ________________________________ Message 8 _____________________________________ Time: 09:08:48 AM PST US From: "Cliff Shaw" Subject: Re: Europa-List: Engine mount & offset concern. --> Europa-List message posted by: "Cliff Shaw" Jeff I had the same concern when I first mounted my 912S. Later I found that I had NOT gotten the mounts fully compressed. I have the engine off now and will be interested in replies to your question. My feeling is that the 4 washers , plus the shock mount full compressed will work out OK with the AN41 bolts. Cliff Shaw 1041 Euclid ave. This is obviously why I don't have room for the 4 washers under the bolt & nut heads. Does anyone see any reason to remove these and order the longer ones just to have a place to store washers, or is there another reason for putting the 4 washers there? Alternatively, if you have a monowheel, you can use a microswitch on the gear lever to select one of two resistors. This has the same effect as the potentiometer but as the mono only has 'up' or 'down' you only need two settings. You pick the topic or topics you want to follow and every day or weekly at the same time an HTML digest of the posts is emailed to you. Just click on the ones you want to read, and you go directly to the post. This feature will go active after the move to a server. 3) Attachment: Users can now directly upload photos and files to the site. The first test is the cowl flap mod. 4) I've talked to John Hurst, Europa Fl., and he has expressed an interest in having a factory presence on the site. Thanks, SteveD. P.S. Thanks paulM for your input. The number of topics will be reduced as soon as we figure out what they should be. ________________________________ Message 13 ____________________________________ Time: 06:25:43 PM PST US From: "Ronald J. Parigoris" Subject: Europa-List: Anyone interested in super light weight covers? --> Europa-List message posted by: "Ronald J. Parigoris" I am a Balloonist. Build all my own stuff. Probably going to sew up some stuff for Europa monowheel. For certain a super lightweight canopy cover made out of 1oz Parachute cloth for flying with. This stuff is unbelievable light and stuffs real small. It is rip stop nylon and silicon impregnated. It does not mildew, it also does not breath. Mud and dirt does not stick to it! Don't walk on it, it is slipper than a banana peel. I am tired of covering plane with heavy tarp that lives in hanger, may make up a lightweight one. Anyone interested in any sort of covers? Lightweight wing covers so if rains and on trailer will not fill wings? Could probably stuff into a softball size. Use a normal vacuum to squeeze down and it will get a lot smaller that you could ever stuff. will not hurt fabric at all. Figured would be ideal for flying around with and you got stuck. CS Prop cover to keep rain out if stuck somewhere? Lightweight drape over plane tent to sleep in? I could make an entire hanger for plane that is inflatable that could easily be put in laundry basket if made out of parachute material. Idea would be unzip hanger and roll plane on top of it, then zip together. Only a few stakes would be needed. Inflation could be a leaf blower, just get one that sucks fresh air, not exhaust. A shop vac works well on pressure. A quiet muffin fan works. If I used a leaf blower, in 5 or 10 minutes it will be busting at seams. Then you only need a very small fan. can add windows, and door easily. I have a bunch of YKK Zippers. they are awful airtight. Velcro is terrible, it leaks like a sieve. You want wind resistant, make it out of heavier cloth and have some arch beams made out of used fire hose pumped up to a hundred pounds of pressure. Could probably withstand a lot more wind than you would care to leave your europa in. The lightweight one, could probably be good to 20 MPH with minimal staking. If you use a standard box fan, or something similar, would have a vent in top, you keep on pumping in fresh cool air to keep temp down. If cool out, close vent and don't introduce fresh air. You can set up on cement or tarmac, if you don't want holes, stake down with water. Pails or collapsible. I have a singer double needle bar feed, and puller foot. All seams will be French Fell. Have also a Pfaff Zig Zag. If anybody is interested, I will cost out all. Ron Parigoris
