I agree mine work as per the manual so it looks like you have a problem.
From memory I had the same sort of symptoms when I forgot to plug the
connector to the TCU disable switch in (i.e. the controller was seeing an
open circuit).
My gyros are quite loud but seem no worse than any others I have heard.

and parks it self, however the manual says that the warning and caution
lights should blink on for 1 ~ 2 seconds at power up. Mine don't, although
the do come on briefly when the unit is turned off. Is this correct ?
It sounds as if you might have a problem. My TCU lights work exactly as
advertised.

I'm ready to fit the closeout from the flaps to the fuselage. The manual says to
lay up 2 plys of bid on the outside of the foam, then the dig out the foam and
lay up 2 plys of bid on the inside. My question is...will 4 plys of bid be enough
strength to hold? Do I dig out all of the foam or close it out like the
end of the flaps earlier and drill a hole for the pin? The longest piece at the
trailing edge is 5.5 inches down to approx 2.5 at the leading edge (flaps to
fuselage).

It sure will, build it like the manual says and it will be plenty strong
enough. - Paul

Alan,
4 plies of bid are plenty as the flap extensions are not really structural.
Just make sure to overlap it onto the flat by at least 2 inches. I dug out
all the foam because Im not going to be de-rigging and rigging a lot.
However Ive seen several that have left the foam in and funneled the
opening large to narrow so that the pin finds its way in for easy rigging
with one person.

Subject: | Wingtip strobe wires, what's the best place to exit the fuse? |
--> Europa-List message posted by: TELEDYNMCS@aol.com
Greetings all and happy new year!
Been working on the baggage bay supports lately and the time has come to
mount the wingtip strobe power supply and route the feed wires out the sides of
the fuselage.
Question for those who've come before me: Where is the best place for the
wires to exit the sides of the fuselage? My plan is to run the feed wires from
the power supply, located on one of the inner baggage bay supports, then route
the wires through the center tunnel and exiting near the CS15 bracket. I'm
planning to install Molex plugs so the wires can be disconnected when the wings
are removed. It appears that just behind the CS15 bracket at the bottom corner
there is enough room between the bracket and the gas tank for the wire to exit
without the potential of fouling the aileron linkage, yet still being within
the profile of the wing. Comments?

Trying to keep up with the weather forecasts at this time of year is trying my
patience.
A couple of days ago the forecast for the weekend was looking quite promising,
but now it looks like Saturday is completely out with just a hope for Sunday.
If we go ahead on Sunday I was thinking of Huddersfield as the destination. There
is a free voucher in both Pilot and Flyer magazines for this airfield.
Huddersfield has 550 mtrs of Asphalt oriented 07/25 with grass off the end making
a total of 800 mtrs available. If landing on 25 avoid low flying over the
houses and hospital .5 miles from the threshold. A restaurant is available on
the airfield. Telephone for PPR and more information on 01484 645784.
I will put a message out Saturday evening to confirm if we are going ahead.

Another question I have for the tri-gear builders has to do with the amount of
travel in the flaps. I attached my electric flap acutator this last weekend and
found I only have 24.5 Deg of travel. Is this normal or does someone have a
idea on how to get to 30 Deg?

I was able to get a full 30 degrees out of mine, although the clearance on
the pitch push/pull tube and the bolt holding the actuator on the drive tube is
close. Full up the flap drive tube is right at the back of the CM. Full down
on the acutator puts the flaps a little over 30 degrees down. What's stopping
you from going 30 degrees down? Maybe the actuator isn't mounted in the right
place or the travel isn't enough? I can check the travel on my actuator and we
can compare if you want.

John,
My acutator was set with the full extension and then mounted. I lack a full
5 deg from 30. Nothing is hanging up in the travel. I'm topping out against
the CM also. Would you please measure how much travel your actuator has.
