Hi folks
Last year, my first year insuring the Europa, Jennings gave me the best
quote and got my business.
Now, a year without claims later, Jennings' quote is about the same as last
year, but Traffords are undercutting it by 25% !
There is a suggestion that Traffords might hit me with a major increase for
the subsequent year. Does anyone have any experience of Traffords ? Do they
do loss-leaders for an initial year and then hit with a major increase in a
second year ? (All assuming no claims made)
I know Traffords made a concerted effort by sending out proposal forms to
lots of Europa people (I got one about 6 months ago).
Email me direct if you wish, or on the List.
Thanks

I have switched on a rather hurried Website production to share with the
Europa world.
A Mk II version will be started soon to catalogue pictures in chronological
order. The present format just about epitomises the enjoyable yet chaotic
way I have approached the build.

Paul,
In six days they were able to send you the MPG plumbing kit, week-end
included. I suppose that you ordered in Lakeland because I am still waiting
since 21th of july when I ordered for in the UK stores. Unless repeatedly
e-mails and letters and the keeping up the company's image by Andy I am
still waiting. I hope that this happy event for you may awake the attention
on my case.

Ditto.
Only the use of silicone fluid would explain why my brakes are so spongy!
That plus the use of nylon brake pipes.
The sponginess is actually a good thing as it desensitises the brakes;
they'd be too sharp otherwise.

I would argue that the 'S' is a more efficient engine than the 80hp version
(its higher compression ratio at least would makes it so), although the
fuel-burn of 912 and 912s Europas when run alongside one another over large
distances is too close to call.
So the 's' only produces more heat if it is run at higher power outputs, in
comparison to the 80hp version.

I'm re-posting this as not sure I did it right first time:
My lovely EUROPA Classic Mono is reluctantly going up for sale.
It has a ROTAX 912 driving a Warp Drive Ground adjustable prop. It's in
superb condition and has 390 hours on the clock.
The panel is very comprehensive with Garmin GPS100, Electric A.I and D.I.,
Icom A200 radio and a Narco Mode C txpdr.
Very light at only 777 lbs it flies at a genuine 120 kts in the cruise.
Looking for offers around GBP 35,000

My 914 carbs both have what appear to be drip trays beneath them with
drain holes leading to a pipe nipple. I am presuming these should indeed
have piping taking any (?) fuel away from the exhaust below them. There
is no mention of what to do in the engine installation manual - anyone
enlighten me? There is a similar fitting on the port underside of the
airbox with a similar lack of instructions. Lastly, anyone using the
NPT tapping in the airbox to measure airbox temp? If so is this
something folk think is woth doing and what have been used for temp probes?

Most insurance companies do this, not just the aviation ones. This often
makes it worth your while to place your insurance with a new company each
year. This way you gain the benefit of new client discount. The insurance
companies assume that most people are too lazy to ask for new quotes on
renewal, and pay the premium asked - and apparently they're right!
Another thing worth trying is a bit of horse trading. "Can you beat ?XXX?"
is always a question worth asking, where XXX is the last quote you got (or
may be a bit less)

Hi all,
I might do some experimenting I the near future to see if I can measure the fuel
pressure on a 914. The idea was to have two transducers, one the air-box and
the other on the fuel line and measure the difference.
I am looking for a source of transducers, one of them will have to be fuel resistant,
and I would prefer them to have a 1/8" thread. Does anyone has a web link(s)
so I can go check out what is available.
Thanks, Paul

Good Day All,
I am putting in the baggage bay and have a couple of quick questions for
those that have gone before.
1) Is the baggage bay supposed to be jammed into the bottom of the canoe? Or
is it supposed to have the edges sanded down until it just fits the proper
place in the canoe? As it is, it seems to push the sides out a little too much
for my senses.
2) Is the floor of the baggage bay supposed to be level with the door sill or
tilted up in the back so it is level with the bottom skin?
Thanks in advance for the knowledge that will calm the nerves.

I fit mine so it "looked good". The floor is nearly level and I did trim off
the edges to get it to NOT flare out the sides.
Remember; when you do go to bond it in, the "D" bulkhead is to get two
layers of BID on both the front and back sides. ( I hated the back side job)

>>>My 914 carbs both have what appear to be drip trays beneath them with
drain holes leading to a pipe nipple. I am presuming these should indeed
have piping taking any (?) fuel away from the exhaust below them.
The Rotax installation manual supplied with the engine states that they must be
drained away. I fed lines down the side of the radiator support.
>>> There is a similar fitting on the port underside of the
airbox with a similar lack of instructions.

NPT tapping in the airbox to measure airbox temp?
