Hi Mike,
The baggage bay floor sits 3/4'' [19mm] above the tailplane pushrod, at the same
angle, put a piece of scrap timber that thick on top of the pushrod, and trim
the outer edge of the floor, and the rear bulkhead so there is no pressure
on to the inside of the fuselage.
Then bond in with Redux under the overlapping flange to the lower bulkhead, and
2 ply Bid from the panel to the fuselage, [ both sides of the upper ''D'' shape
bulkhead.]
Cheers,
Nev.

Good Day All,
I am putting in the baggage bay and have a couple of quick questions for
those that have gone before.
1) Is the baggage bay supposed to be jammed into the bottom of the canoe? Or
is it supposed to have the edges sanded down until it just fits the proper
place in the canoe? As it is, it seems to push the sides out a little too much
for my senses.
2) Is the floor of the baggage bay supposed to be level with the door sill or
tilted up in the back so it is level with the bottom skin?
Thanks in advance for the knowledge that will calm the nerves.

Guys,
I ordered a number of the new sub-kits from John in Lakeland back when
they first were announced. When was that? March, April, May last
year? Whenever... After checking with John back mid-year he said that
the demand for the sub-kits had been WAY beyond the companies
expectations and they were trying to get tooled up meet the demand. In
any case, John called me two weeks ago to say most of it had arrived
and would be shipped soon. He called again last week to get my CC info
and said that it would ship that day. Still waiting to see it. I'll
let the list know when it arrives and which bits arrive.

Does any Bid get laid up from the horizontal floor to the fuselage sides?
P.28-11 just says "Also layup 2 plies of 'bid' each side of the join between
the fuselage and the rear baggage bay bulkhead, lapping them onto each by
25mm (1")."
Not sure if that includes the horizontal portion...
Thx

That job is much easier if you turn the fuselage on its side (or even back)
using Chuck Pop's cradle of course. That neat idea really improved the
quality of life for Europa builders {!:-)

We were told all round - including the horizontal bit. I think I asked
Andy or Nevill the same question.

Hi all.
I have just finished mounting the TCU for the 914 - and would like to inform about
my proceedings - after advice from Neville. The build manual does not mention
anything (strangely enough) about how to penetrate the firewall for these
units (TCU/turbo control unit).
According to Nev., any hole should be made with round corners - (preferably round
holes), and the area on the rear side of the firewall should be strengthened
to restablish the strength taken away by cutting the hole. He suggested a stainless
steel ring - 1.5 mm thick/25 mm wide - on which anchor nuts are installed,
and fastened with 525 screws/Araldite 420.
The hole should be cut as far away from the landing gear frame as possible - and
not in the center.
I made up my cover plate from firewall cut-off and bolted it together with the
steel-ring to the firewall edge - using Araldite 420. Looks very solid!

Gents,
A note, as promised, to let the group know that some of my order from
early last year has arrived. I received my headphone jack panel and
the pitot/static plumbing kit this afternoon. I also received an
e-mail saying that another package had shipped from Eruopa, Lakeland
this afternoon. Maybe this is the MP gage plumbing and/or the roof
panel.
Good building and happy flying to all,

Hi All,
I have tested a single differential pressure sender on 914EA with great
success. We are having them custom made, and are being promised units in 1
month. The cost will be about $110 each for the senders. We will also have
a 1 1/4, and 2 1/4 gauge to go with the sender.
If anyone wants to pre-order these give me a call in the Lakeland office.
Happy Building!

Hi all,
I might do some experimenting I the near future to see if I can measure the
fuel pressure on a 914. The idea was to have two transducers, one the
air-box and the other on the fuel line and measure the difference.
I am looking for a source of transducers, one of them will have to be fuel
resistant, and I would prefer them to have a 1/8" thread. Does anyone has a
web link(s) so I can go check out what is available.
Thanks, Paul

Hmm, yes, I think I will do that although my manual with any revisions
that I have found did NOT say do both sides of the D bulkhead. The
language was somewhat confusing but it definitely did not say both
sides. I elected to do the aft side which was difficult and I suspect
not particularly strong, so I will scrape off the finish, bond the front
side, and then repaint. Grr.
