Hi all,
We received the big box of parts on 21 Jan 2004.
This is Mike & Mary Baker
Benton, Kansas
Still working on unpacking and inventory.
I have been reading this forum for about 2 months.
Would like a sketch or dxf file of the cradle that is
shown in the Experimenter article form 99.
Hi all

Hi All
I would like to connect my skymap to my laptop (9pin serial) to use it to drive
the Jeppessen Flite Map software I have just bought (which seems to be
excellent). Ultimately i would like to copy the installation in G-EMIN with a
separate screen up front, driven from the laptop/mini computer in the back.
Does anyone know the pinouts for this cable including the power pins?
Cheers
Eddie

Just wondering if any builders are or will be using a Mazda rotary?

Hi Ken,
The Mazda at 300lbs installed weight for a 2 rotor, it's just too heavy.
I'm keeping my eye on a single rotor variant with custom aluminum side
plates.... @ less than 200lbs - but it's still in the very early
development stages and as such is still unproven. Richard Sohn is the
fellow doing the work unicorn@gdsys.net. I have some pics I could email
you.
The Midwest Norton rotary was tried in the Europa early on by the
factory (as per the old newsletters), but they apparently had cooling
issues - there may be one or two flying in the UK. The Norton design has
now been purchased by Diamond Aircraft, and marketed out of Italy.

Likely very expensive, and one would still likely have the cooling and
consumption issues. Nice and light though (105Hp @ 155lbs wet with a
second alternator).
Cheers,
Pete

Mike - I don't think anyone's published such dimensions. Chuck Pops'
Cradle (as seen in EAA Experimenter May 1999) was described fairly
fully on his website - was <http://members.bellatlantic.net/~cpops/>
but may have changed.
[Shameless advertising follows] There is also information about
several other fuselage & wing supports, including dimensions of the
factory dolly, on the CD-ROM issued to new members of The Europa
Club. Ask me off-forum <memsec@europaclub.org.uk> for more info about
joining the Club.
regards
Rowland

The following notice has been brought rather belatedly to my
attention by Penny Sharpe at the PFA HQ.
= = = = = = = = = = = = =
We have been asked if we would be interested in joining some of the
other European homebuilt Associations to exhibit an aircraft at the
ILA 2004 to be held in Berlin 10 - 16th May. There is space being
made available for 5 - 7 aircraft with preference given to aircraft
with a particularly interesting design or technology.
The organisers are supporting the initiative financially by offering
the following:-
A double room B & B for the event duration.
All ATC and airport fees paid.
Free transfer from the airport to hotel.
1 tank of fuel towards the return journey.
25 euros per day per person for up to 2 people.
Would any members who are interested in showing off their plane and
representing the PFA please contact me at Turweston on 01280 846786.

Sadly, I don't have a flying aeroplane yet, but there must be some of
the 120 flying Europa people in the UK who could take this up!

PIK were the first glider manufacturer to use paint instead of polyester
gel coat. (If I'm not mistaken, possible but unlikely on this occasion)
