--> Europa-List message posted by: "G-IANI" <g-iani@ntlworld.com> I was equally mystified. On contacting Nev I learnt that the two nuts and washer, that ship with the tube, are not required at all. Once you know that the orientation/ location is fairly obvious. On one the brass nut and washer was tight against the tube with the other loose. On the other both nuts were in the stem with the washer between. What is the correct orientation and location of these parts? How does the valve stem lay inside the wheel? I see no drawings or description in the manual. --> Europa-List message posted by: "Neville Eyre" <Neville@europa-aircraft.com> Hi All, The STB rudder cable exits the fuselage at about 13'' forward of the hinge line, and yes ,it has to bend outwards slightly. As instructed in the Manual, use a piece of conduit [ supplied, No BS116, which is the black rigid pipe, as used for the brake line ] . The pipe will have a bend set in it from being curled up on a roll, scuff sand the outside of the pipe, and bond it in place, so the ''set'' guides the cable from the inside to the outside in a gradual curve. Thread the cable through , and fix to the horn to align the tube, leave 1'' or so of the pipe showing on each side. Hope this makes things clearer ? Cheers, Nev. >>> <TELEDYNMCS@aol.com> 02/16/04 01:06am >>> --> Europa-List message posted by: TELEDYNMCS@aol.com Greetings all, In an effort to get everything done before the top goes on I've been looking at the rudder cable alignment. The manual calls for fairleads to be installed in the rear bulkhead 1 3/8" left and right of the centerline and the same distance from the floor as measured at the centerline. It also calls for the starboard rudder cable to exit 13" from the horn, which is essentially at the hinge line. This alignment appears to make the rudder cable change course at the bulkhead by about 15 degrees to starboard. Is this correct? I plan to use nylon fairleads to reduce friction, but will I have a binding problem? Regards, John Lawton Dunlap, TN A-245 (wiring, sanding, eyeballing, head scratching in prep for bonding on the lid)

--> Europa-List message posted by: James Nelson <europajim@juno.com> Hi John, I had my cables in a nylon sheath from the front back through the removable bulkhead behind the mono-wheel and terminating just before the cable pulley in the tunnel. From the pulley the cable runs back to a fairlead that I mounted on a small plywood mounting strip that I glassed to the back of the tunnel as it opens up into the rear. I raised the cable about 2" at that point. I then ran the cables upward to the counter weight brace (don't remember the nomenclature). I mounted a long piece of plywood that extended beyond the width of the brace. I then placed two more nylon fairleads on the ends and bolted it to the verticals. This brought the cables up and off the floor of the fuselage and almost in a straight line to the Singleton bell crank that is mounted to the back of the rear bulkhead. This path keeps the cables in a straight line (almost) from the cable pulley by the seat and gets them away from the fuel lines ect. that populate the tunnel. You get the jest of the path. The fairleads keep the cable in line and keep it from flopping around. The plywood pieces were coated with resin to weather proof them and allow them to be bonded where needed and bolted to the rear vertical framework. I would like to come to the Tenn. get together. Lets hope the weather is good as I want to fly up there. Maybe I can get Gary Stout to fly up there with me. Its more fun to go as a flight of two. Maybe Bob will be able to go also as a flight of three.... Jim Nelson N15JN

--> Europa-List message posted by: "Sidsel & Svein Johnsen" <sidsel.svein@oslo.online.no> Hi all, In order to extend the Nordic flying season, a good cabin heating arrangement will be essential. Many have offered good advise on this forum and on their websites on how to get air into the cabin - that is, provided the intended volume IN can also find a way OUT! Do any have good flying experience with exhaust air arrangement on Europa (tri-gear/mono), other than just let the doors bulge out and cause a leak due to the pressure build-up in the cabin (which by definition also means a restriction to good airflow IN)? Thanks and best regards to all, Svein K. Johnsen A225 XS trigear - now in Norway - working on "100 things" in the back before bonding the top on. Gear, wings, wing sockets etc. completed with top temporarily in place.

I was planning a couple of vents in the baggage bay area just so any vented air, hot or cold could flow through. Not even sure if its necessary. Jeff A258 Do not archive.

The danger of human exposure to transponder replies is an old wives tale. If a 250W xpondr is replying at the extraordinary rate of 1 per second, a distance of 1 inch from the antenna is safe according to our FCC's RF safety guidelines (and online calculator). With Mode-S, flying VFR and even not in communication with ATC, gubment (including now the military, post 9/11) can track everywhere and whenever the aircraft flies and store it in a database, and if you own the aircraft, they can presume that's you and easily verify otherwise. Vast majority of citizens here would find that beyond totally intolerable. Even if not aware of my situation, where there's a nuclear power plant near my airport, and anything other than a straight line past it might put me on a terrorist watch list.... Regards, Fred F.

I don't know where Coolangata is but Lance moved to Brisbane area last year? His project is well worth a careful look. Graham Thanks Graham, have heard about somebody moving into that area so will try to look him up myself. Trouble is that when I am in Brisbane, I am generally racing around like a blue arsed fly and don't get time to scratch myself but I will make the effort to find out where he is. When are you coming back? Regs Kingsley
